You download the folders i think and then it downloads via a programe. They take much much longer i ifnd than direct downloads

yeah but torrent often holds downloads itherwise inaccessible. thats why any people use them.... even though they are often ilegal if they are for copyrighted data

But they are safer than limewire, morpheus, winmx, and other programs. I must agree the are extremely slow especially when your wireless signal is like a wooden rollercoaster lol

maybe its cos im not on wireless but i always find torrents quicker then limewire pro. my avg speeds are like 110kbps on bitlord. im only on 1mb broadband though lol

theres hundreds of guides on the net (theres even one here)
speeds depend on seeders and leachers
the more seeders the faster the speeds
and less leachers
newsgroups are far faster

100 kbps is pretty good for a torrent on a 1mb connection. remember thats 1 megabit not byte. a bit is an eigth of a byte so you would divide 1,000 by 8 to get your speed in bytes so your max is 125 kbps

lucky asses..lol everytime i do that crap i get an amazing 12 to 30 if im lucky...i have 1.5 m internet...sometimes i get lucky and it flies like at 100....go to this site..its great for torrents...i dont know if im allowed to post the site so if im not ...remove it./.

Whoever said its slower than a direct donwload is nuts. Using private trackers, i can hit 500 KBps, that a hell of a lot faster than other source i have used for dling.

Mainly private trackers. I have a 2MB connection, not sure what you have. Lots of private trackers are taking signups, im too lazt to listthem so go to the P2P forums if you are interested.

hmmm yeah i find torrents msot of the time alot faster then direct downloads and deffinatly faster then file sharing programs like limewire ect. and i normally get around 60-120 on a 1mbit conection and you would deffinatly get faster speeds on a private tracker nearly all the time

Welcome gtaUK, nice to see you in a thread;) Only problem with private trackers is you have to share, and since i know a lot of ppl are greedy as hell, they probably will get booted within a week. But there is nothing quite like having 400 seeds on a given torrent lol

yeh i no wot you meen, i love the more seeders on a huge torrent, but if your not on a private tracker you could probably have 1 seeder for like a huge torrent and take days or weeks to dl. oh and cheers for the welcome
