i was wondering if you can actually make a back up with out shrinking it down? i am trying to back up my copy of the 2006 rose bowl. i made a copy of it and it was really bad. i thought it might be the media, but it wasnt. i even checked my copy that was saved to my hard drive. it was pretty bad also. does anyone have any suggestions for me?

How big is your original DVD? How did you make the original? DVD recorder? More info would help, but let me make a few assumptions, first, if it was originally on a DVD-9 disk, 8.5 Gigs, you can copy it one to one using AnyDVD, DVDDecrypter, and IMGBurn respectively if you have a Dual Layer DVD burner. If it doesnot have any weird copywrite protection, then DVDDecrypter will work by itself with out AnyDVD. Rip the movie onto your hard drive, then burn it back onto a 8.5 Gig DVD (DVD-DL, I recommend Verbatim) using IMGBurn.
I am hoping you didn't burn it onto a CD, because the compression would be horrendous, please post back with more specifics, the disk type, your burner model, which software programs you used before, computer type, etc. any info would be useful

sorry i did not give more info. i went to best buy and bought a copy of this football game. it is a little over three hours. i have made on back up once before without any problems. but this time when i burned it i checked the disc and it was a bad copy. i checked the copy that was burned to my hard drive, it was just the same. i am using verbatim dvd -r. no problems before. i used shrink to make this copy. once again, i used shrink last time without any problems. i think i might try to use dvddecrypter, see if that will give me a better copy. i just want a good backup, so i can put the original up. thanks for your help.

If you have a DL burner, do what blivetNC said. If you don't, you might try decrypter but decrypter can't shrink the DVD. If it is a 5GB disc then set Decrypter to read and write in ISO mode and it will burn the DVD. If it's a 9GB disc then it must be recoded to fit a 5GB disc. Shrink or Nero Recode or CloneDVD from Slysoft can be used. If you have Nero Xpress and the original copy of the dvd that work correctly, then you could just copy the copy with xpress since it it is on a 5 GB disc(it's already been shrunk). Good luck and let us know.
