I hate running off the laser (I am on my fourth PS2, they all died of laser failure). So I am trying to run all my games with USB Extreme. Gran Turismo 4 did not work at first, but I found a patch that made it work on the USB hard drive. Does anyone know how to make such patches so I can put more of my games on the hard drive? I just got the new GTA, and if it is as big as the last GTA, putting it on the hard drive should save about half of my laser's life.

Thanks for the tips...looks like I have to find a copy of "Sony CD Generator 1.20"...a program no longer avilable for sale, but still not freeware...

I'd like to do one of the ata conversions, but I am not good enough to do the solder work, and I can't afford a modchip, ata conversion, and professional install, plus I would have to be without my precious PS2 untill the install is done and UPS gets around to delivery.

Are there any other fixes available? GTA Liberty City Stories does not have a DNAS problem, but it still will not load, it starts the intro animation, then locks up, every time.

If you've gone through 4 PS2's why not just buy a used FAT PS2 get a network adaptor and a IDE Hard Drive and just use HD Loader?

1.) My First 2 Playstation 2's were the fat Units, they died.
2.) I can't find a new FAT playstaion 2.
3.) The whole point of saving the laseer is to save myself from buying ANOTHER playstation before the PS3 comes out.
