First make a an UPDATE folder in the /PSP/GAME folder. Then put the 2.0 update in the update folder. So it should look like this, /PSP/GAME/UPDATE/2.0 Eboot. Then navigate to the GAME folder on your PSP and execute the upgrade.

Restore Default Settings before you try to execute the upgrade.

open up your PSP on your PC. The first screen you see is called "ms0" from there, go into PSP and then game. Make a new folder called "UPDATE" in all CAPITAL letters. Go to your game menu all the way to the right underneath where a game icon would be if you had a game in the UMD drive. Click "GAME" to find the UPDATE and launch it. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE YOUR PSP PLUGGED IN and then choose to update. Then, get the 1.50 update from here: (I know you didn't ask, but you should do it anyway)

http://dl.qj.net/index.php?pg=19&src=north+amer

and downgrade it back to 1.50 w/ MPH's downgrader found here:

http://mphwebsite.tuxfamily.org/index.php?program=9

Don't worry about the "EVENTUALS DAMAGE". I've upgraded and downgraded so many times it's not funny and my PSP works great!

Probably to play newer games before MPH Gameloader, RunUMD, and Devhook came out.

@ Thirst AND stang:

Survey says.................

Correct. (Before all the "trickware") I started upgrading b4 I found out what homebrew is. I only found out what homebrew is about a year ago. But, I got the first release and got a game which required 1.51. (There was a 1.51, right?) So i upgraded and thot, "Cool! The PSP has software you can upgrade? RIGHT ON!!!" So then, I found out about 1.52 and upgraded to that and then found out about the web browser on 2.00 and how you could actually set wallpapers b/c I hadn't even heard of PSPersonalize yet. So anyway, I found homebrew completely by accident. I was searching for the latest releases and kept seeing this link that said 24 HOUR UPDATES (which turned out to be qj, or, quickjump) so I checked it out. Shortly after, I started using the (back then called the) eboot loader and heard news here and there about MPH. It became intriguing, so I checked it out and found out what you could do w/ 1.50, so I downgraded, tried homebrew and found even more homebrew worked. So I had 1.50 for a while, then GTA:LCS came out (2.00 upgrade version) so I upgraded and downgraded and upgraded and blah blah blah... I have seriously changed the FW on my PSP like

1.50>1.52>2.00>1.50>2.00>1.50>2.00>1.50

at least that many times.

Sorry. My ex girlfriend said I could only answer questions in Essay format. I can't give a simple yes or no or a quick answer. I'm a visual person, so I explain as I'm visualizing and that's why it takes so long for me to explain smthn.

I figured it was easier to give possible answers so that you wouldn't have to wait for his, but whatever.......

Edit: Turns out I happened to be right. Go figure.......

Ok, I've followed all the instructions and got it to upgrade. Now when I try to downgrade it something goes wrong. I followed all the directions for mph and I also downloaded the 1.50 update. When I go to photo the screen turns black and it starts showing a lot of weird letters and numbers at the top of the screen. It wouldn't let me turn it off or anything so I had to take the battery out. Am I doing something wrong? These are the directions I followed for the mph downgrader.

Installation :
--------------

- Create a UPDATE folder in PSP/GAME/ folder of your memory stick
- Copy EBOOT.PBP (update 1.50) in UPDATE folder
- Unpack MPHDowngrader.zip
- Copy overflow.tif in your PSP/PHOTO/ folder of your memory stick
- Copy h.bin in root of your memory stick
- Copy index.dat in root of your memory stick
- Plug the AC adaptor

Then, enter in VSHELL PHOTO MENU, this will launch Version Changer.

Create an USB connection and if the Version Changer has been installed, a new file is created in your root of your memory stick (ms0:/index.dat.bak).

Then go to VSHELL GAME MENU and launch 1.50 update.

Follow the instructions ...

That is normal...after it goes to the screen with the letters, hold the power switch up until your psp shuts down. Then start it up and "upgrade" to 1.50.

Good luck! I love my home-brew!

Oh, nevermind. It's now saying version 1.0 That can't be right. It wasn't showing that at first as it was saying 2.0 but then I turned it back off again and now it's saying 1.0 So did I do it right? isn't it supposed to say 1.5?

You did it right, the MPH thingie tricks your PSP into thinking it is a 1.00, now you can run the 1.50 eboot and "upgrade"

Yes.......Now upgrade to 1.5. Your PSP is still 2.0 but the MPH downgrader made it say 1.00 so that the 1.5 update could be run.
Just execute the 1.5 upgrade.

That is normal too, hold the power switch until it goes off. Then when you start it up it will go to a blue screen in about 10 different languages...hit the circle button and then it will load default settings. Enter the time and stuff and your done.

Ok, When it said the update failed, it didn't do anything and it wouldn't let me turn it off so I took out the battery. I turned it back on and it took me to a blue screen with all these different languages on it and told me to press the O button. Then it restarts and I look in my system information and it says 1.50 YES!!!!!!!!! but I have a question. will it mess my psp up in the future since I took the battery out while it was on that black screen with all the letters and numbers? and also when it said update failed. Thanks so much for your help guys.
