Hi, I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1533S, I'm having trouble burning DVD+R/RW's. Nero goes through the whole writing prosess without any error but when it's finished and I take it out Its plain to see that nothing being writen on the DVD.

I've used Nero InfoTool whichs says the drive is DVD+R Compatable

Hope all that makes some sort of sence and somebody can shed some light on this.

Thanks

Carl

Nero thinks it has burned something...at least that's what the log indicates.

A few things should be fixed:
Quote:
Nero Version: 7.0.0.0 (Nero Express)

Try updating to this version of Nero:

http://www.filehippo.com/download_nero_7_premium/?845

Your burners firmware is out of date.
Quote:
Recorder: <LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S>Version: BS0C - HA 1 TA 0 - 7.0.0.0

New firmware:
http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_result.php?kaj=1&isces

Your DMA is not enabled:
Quote:
CdRomPeripheral : LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-1633S atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : ATAPI-CD ROM-DRIVE-52MAX atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off
CdRomPeripheral : MO7568G YOJ746Q 1.0 dtscsi Port 2 ID 0 DMA: Off
My guide to enable DMA:
http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/dvdguide005.html

The media you are using appears to be burned, however I'd switch to Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. Are these Imation +Rs?

So, other than looking at the disc, how else are you determining it is actually blank?
A very simple test is to try and record on it again. Nero will kick it out if there is anything at all written on it.

Let's see...

Your firmware is out of date. Upgrade to BSOY (the latest) from this page.

Not very familiar with this brand but a quick research on the media ID reveals that a lot of people don't think much of it. I would try something of better quality such as Verbatim, Sony or Fuji (made in Japan) or Taiyo Yuden.

Oh, you know what. I'm just noticing now you are using rewritable media. RW's aren't of great quality to start with but if you really need to use them, then the above recommendation still applies. RW Verbatims are okay as far as Rewritables are concerned.

What's the rated max burn speed on those discs. You should be able to get better results by burning a 4x.

As you mentionned it seems to be coming through. Make sure you don't select test burn (laser turned off) on the burn screen.

Update you firmware first then try again. If that doesn't work, I would consider getting better quality media. Let me know how it works out.

Edit: I see someone already replied. Yeah, I missed some :). As he said, DMA on = very important! :-)

Try the Nero update first and see if it will work.

If Nero is working properly and the problem is with the burner then using a different burning program will help figure this out.

ImgBurn:
http://www.imgburn.com/

Most of the time you will get an error message if some part of the process fails. Get the items I listed corrected, most importantly the Nero update and firmware first and see how it works. It may even be a matter of the blank media so you should try something else.

Your Nero log indicates that the disc was burned and apparently it was not, so now we have to figure out what would possibly cause that to happen and not give any type of error message.

Another thing to do is to check the "Verify data on disc after burning" box. This will be on your Final Burn Settings window.

I've enabled DMA, and updated the firmware, Quite scared to do that at first (you hear horror stories about flashing going bad)

I don't know which it was but its working now,

Thanks Guys!
