DVD RE-W problem

I have a labtop ( Dell 2200 ) And I think tht dvd/r-w going out and I wounder if I'm right. When I frist used my DVD r-w it took only 25-45 mins and now it talking 2-3 hours Someone please avise me

Check and make sure your drive is in DMA mode and not PIO, here is a guide.

You should be able to change it, however when was the last time you went to the Dell site and checked if there were any updated drivers for your computer. It is possible that you need a bios update. Go to Dell and use the support tab and put in your service tag number and check to see if anything is updated on your computer since you bought it, if you have not done so already.
