I had it ghetto rigged wiht a piece of straw tissue and everything so I could swap my backup of gran turismo 4 since game dr didnt fix my disk. But I scratched my backup so I just said screw it and went and bought a new GT4 disc and took my stuff out and tried closing my top.
Now the problem Im having is my ps2 wont load the game, I can hear the disk spin but it just takes me to the browswer screen and says no data and doesnt show my disk, what gives?
EDIT: Doesn't even work when I put the straw back in place, i got it spinning again and I can see the laser but it keeps saying "reading disc" and wont boot up the game from the start, not even through browswer. Horrible, CURSE YOU GT4!
Hmm, sounds like your PS2 could be F'd or it could even be just a dirty laser, try cleaning it by gently rubbing some alcohol on with a soft cloth. Also have u tried any other games like Cd ones or movie dvds, there is a guide somewhere that takes u thru on how 2 fix these sort of disc-read error probs.
Thanks for the reply. I tried some robbing alcohol on the laser and no dice. Ill try a CD on here and see if that works, but I'm really thinking it has something to do with my back left sensor the one where the straw goes in, very crappy bud :(
Think sony will fix it and if so free or how much?
Bigga23, I had the same problem with my flip top. It would make a horrible grinding noise when I loaded a game that had a TOC of 4 GB or higher (e.g. God of War, Soul Calibur 3, Darkwatch, etc...). As the laser tries to read the information at the very edge of the disc, the laser housing would grind against a little piece that petrudes from the flip top hinge, preventing the laser from reading the information and loading the game. If that's the case, you will need to loosen the screws on the back of the PS2 flip top case and raise the top part of the case just a little or file down that petruding piece down to allow room for the laser to read the edge of the disc. I hope that solves your problem.
Na i heard they wont lay a finger on it if it has been modded. So i think your best bet is to take it to a modshop store and get them to see whats wrong. :O
Thanks triple, Im not hearing a grinding noise but I'll definently give that a shot if sony says they wont touch it since im out of warranty.
And wargamer, they shouldnt be able to tell that I modded it, since this mod doesnt remove anything and its just a cheap way to block the sensors :) If they wont touch it i'll open it up and give it a shot and if I cant fix it i guess ill go ahead and have a chip put in :)
it will be under warranty if the sticker is not damaged in any way. however, a mod chip is highly recommded for playing backups, or at least buy high quality slim tools for the sensor trick.
Yeah, I wasnt really trying to play many backups, only the 1 of GT4 since I damaged the disc. Is it possible my ps2 is ruined? IM past the 1 year warranty period but everything is still 100% intact never opened, maybe they'll hook me up?
