I saw on a website that you can download psp games free. I believe its called www.thepiratebay.com
I saw some threads saying that you need something called firm ware 1.5 to download games off these websites and have them work properly. I currently do not have a psp but I would like to know is this true. I'm about to buy a psp and I need to know what kind or firm-ware will work with downloading these games.

Wow, ur in luck. The UP modchip is being released like right now, and it will allow all psp firmware to play iso's (backup up images of games). This will cost you about $100 on top of the normal price of a psp. Without the chip, only a 1.5 is capable of this, and they are very rare. Here are your choices:

1.Buy a psp firmware 2.71 or below, buy the chip and get it installed
2.Buy a 1.5 and have to do nothing else (good luck finding one)
3.Buy a 2.0(a bit easier to find then 1.5s) and downgrade the firmware to 1.5(its not that hard, lots of tuts on how to do this)

EDIT - I would be very careful doing that stuff, thepiratebay just got busted for distributing copyrighted material, and your just playing with fire.

Hey thanks alot. I only have enough to buy a Psp core system. I doubt I'll find enough money for a mod chip. Do you think the core systems will be 1.5 or 2.0?

A great place to look is on craigslist.org. That is where I found mine, I got a new value pack for $200 and it was 1.52FW. From A-F your good, any higher and you can't downgrade. As a last resort you can look on Ebay, but 2.00 or earlier go for more than later FW.

This is the only reason I miss leaving in the states, its so hard to find a bargain on consoles/games etc, leave alone have them ship it international :(

I was on Ebay a couple days ago and there were quite a few 2.0s for sale. Despite ppl saying Ebay is nothing but scams, I got mine from Ebay a whole ago for $180, and is has never had a problem

I make my living on ebay...I have only gotten scammed once or twice and paypal always gets my money back. Ebay is probably the greatest thing since sliced bread. However, they sure do take a lot of your cash...damn paypal fees anyway.
