LOL, glad to help:)

Yes, you would have to have the chip soldered in the psp's motherboard, and will cost like $40 to get done professionaly. Just stick the X folder in the root, and your good to go. Good luck:D

Justa thank you to everyone who helped me-(specially svtstang!)

i think i have dev hook sussed finally and my psp has only been smashed 10 times!!!

managed to play lemmings and exit through it---even though i have got a 'bleach' wallpaper and it has changed my japanese psp (with circle as the enter button) to an english functioning one, (with x as the enter button) if u know what i mean? Is that normal from devhook .4d?

@sturgee, yes thats normal, devhook is created by ChaosZero to emulate fw 2.00-2.50 so you're background changed cause thats how he has it setup.

~OH MY GOD

that means i have had it set up for about 3 days properly and i thought it was a glitch!! WHOOPS- typical girl!!

Will i still need run umd and umd emu or will devhook play the older games too?

Coz its blanked out my umd emu- saying its corrupt, (i know one piece of umdemu is always corrupt on my psp- but this is an extra corrupt one, it won't recognise any other loaders!)

lol, yes you probably had it set up from the get go.

And yes you will probably need run umd and umd emu, Devhook is very good and I use it 95% of the time, but its a real pain with some iso's.

Refer to these links if you want to check out compatibility with different loaders; esp for dax as it lists the settings as well.

Thanks-- just another thing to ask and get confused about---
I have been trying to play 'the dog happy life' for about......3 months!!

whats these 'ppf patches' it requires to play?

AND 'prx' stuff?

Ok, theres a ppf patch out for dog happy life, but even with the patch the game has no sound. Also ppf patch takes care of the manual replacing of the prx files. ie if you use the patch you don't have to worry bout the prx files.

The other thing is that this iso is in Japanese.. if you can read Japanese you're good to go :D

i realise that the iso is japanese- in fact quite i few of my games and although i dont read japanese its easy enough to follow!!! LOL

Thanks for that info- what do these patches do?

and what do the prx thingys do?

(i understand more and more about this psp thingymebobby all the time!! It amazing, i started out with a DS and didn't realise what i was missing!!)

The Patch is an exe file that replaces the prx files for you automatically, it saves you the hassel of using UMD gen and swapping prx files.

Prx files are the ones used by the psp internally to load your games according to your firmware so you need to have updated prx files to play the new games. - (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong on this one guys)

O I C--- so the patch's and prx files that i can d/load from psp-hacks will sort the iso's out---for example, dog happy life?

where do i put them and will i have to delete anything?

(coz thats where new problems will start for me!! :) )

If you download the patch from ps2nfo, you dont have to worry about the prx files. You drop your original iso in the same folder as your patch files... run the 'applyppf.exe' file and voila your iso is patched for you. You will now drop this patched iso in your ISO folder in the root of your MS.

You don't need to delete anything except ofcourse any other iso's if you don't have enough space on your MS.

There is a readme file in the patch folder... just follow the instructions after that.

Yes I have a 1.5 and no I would hardly call myself a pro...lol...I'm just curious and I read alot.. honestly I have more fun in tryin to figure out how the damn game works rather than enjoying the actual game.. so I haven't had much time for gaming.

Recently the most fun I've had is with Loco Roco and Megaman Maverick Hunter X.. the later being extremely frustrating as well coz its so damn hard!

Which ones do you like?
