Just a big thanks to svtstang for his help -- got me up and running too. Seems that the hybrid firmware did the trick. I had downloaded one a while back and played through ~3 of the main levels, then quit, only to find that Auto-save didn't work! Man, I was pissed. I downloaded this one just yesterday, so you can imagine how I felt when it wouldn't boot thru Devhook... anyway, thanks again.
One quick clarification for anybody else reading the thread: yes, you do need the hybrid firmware in both the MPH folder (under MPHGameLoader\Flash0[1]) AND in the root of the memory stick, where it has to be called "F0" and "F1" -- the readme for UMDEmulator tells you this, but it didn't seem clear from the other posts in the thread.
Anyway, I'm kinda curious to know why we need the UMDEmulator flash files when the options for Flash0/1 in UMDEmulator are both set to "off". Anybody? It'd be really nice to get down to only needing one copy of the 24+ MB firmware files. I've got enough copies that they take up as much space collectively as a small game ISO!

Dammit, if there's an "edit" button for posts I've made, I don't see it... anyway, I had an afterthought: does anybody know *why* this game won't load in DevHook? I have 0.43 with a 2.60 FW dump, and that should be able to run this game more or less "natively", e.g. with no patches at all. I noticed that most ISOs seem to have some sort of PNG that is the icon you see when you hover over the "Play UMD" menu item, and I couldn't find that here -- maybe that's why you get the "could not read disc" error? Could that be fixed by just rebuilding the ISO with those PNGs pulled from another game?

I'm gonna have to check running this game with dev 4.3, definitely thinking untouched iso here. I'll report back later.

I've gotten most of the way through it, with X. I heard you get to use Vile as well, or something, but don't know much about that. It does seem easier, though. I figured that was because I was like 14 when I played the SNES version ;-)

Yeah, you can play as Vile after you beated the game with X. Playing as Vile can be a bitch in the begining but after you learn his fightingsystem you should not have any probs beating the game.
Dusk77, are you playing normal or hard mode?

ive read the thread a few times. took me few minutes to hours until page 5. i didnt bother following the guide nor download any. i want this game to be played on devhook 4.5/4.6 coz DH plays ISO/CSO through USB. ive read at some other sites that DH has to emulate 2.5 FW for megaman MHX to load properly but i dont have 2.5FW for DH.
My MegamanMHX ISO is 408mb and it doesnt have the umd_data.bin thus the reason why DH cannot read the UMD. maybe an untouched ISO may work.
**************
extra nonsense. hey why not play megaman X on snes9x for nostalgic reasons. get the elusive RYU's HADOKEN. i got it when i was a kid.

Sorry about bringing this old post back guys, but I just got my devhook working for games 2 days ago, and trust me, my adrenaline glands were tired.
Anyways, I was wondering... I have the ISO, and I tried it, and I got a "The disk can't be read" error. 408 mb btw, so what the hell do I have to do? Someone PLEASE help
