I had the latest fliptop PStwo and it worked perfectly with my latest Swap magic (v3.6)

but I have a friends PS2 and it's an eary model spch-3001
I can't get it to even run the swap magic disc, even though the PS2 runs all other games perfectly

anyone have experience using Swap Magic with the older PS2. Do I have to open it up and do some hardware tinkering?

Ah, no you don't need 2 open it up, it should work with any SM version i think. Maybe u going teh need an older version like 2.0, which i used to have but got the newer 3.6. Now im not quite sure here but thats what it cld b. I believe 30001 is the v3 or V4 PS2 so there shouldnt be any probs using ur SM.

yeah I thought so too, but it won't even recognize the disc
and it also won't boot PS1 burned games with the BreakerPro

any tips on getting it to work would be appreciated

Um yeah that doesn't sound very good, could possibly need a new laser or sometin. And its not a copy of SM is it?, because a few people ive seen asked if they could use a backup of SM but you just cant it has 2b the pressed orig.

Cheers

When did your friend buy his PlayStation 2? If it's before 2002, then maybe the laser is on its way out, because those units' lasers have a short lifespan. I'm just guessing. If Swap Magic is pressed(original), it's maybe the laser. If it's burnt, you need to use an older version to boot the burnt copy. I presume it's original, right?
