So you spend 60 bucks and can then backup all games with no hassle? doesn't sound so bad to me.
Yea, but I was offering people (who may be viewing this thread) another alternative just in case they'd like to save a little money. I meant no harm sheeesh...calm down man!! I mean I would pay the $65 + $19.99 if there were no other cheaper alternative since I'd be saving money on the games anyways.

Just to clarify, if I download a game from a torrent site and it's not patched, I probably can't patch it , correct?

Any one have a link to a website or name of a news group we I could get prepatched games?

You can patch the iso, just use ss merger 1.7, heres a link which has loads of ss/pfi/dmi files.

So if I get the Samsung drive that's already flashed, do I still have to update my 360's firmware? Sorry if this question has already been asked..

If you get a samsung drive for your 360, that is flashed with xtreme, it wont work on your 360, because it has someone elses motherboard key on it, every 360 has its own specific key, you will have to obtain your own xbox 360 key, then insert it into the xtreme firmware then reflash the drive. This is only if your buying the drive of someone, if you can just get your own drive flashed by someone, then that will be fine, otherwise like i said, you will need to insert your own key.

thanks for the reply, but maybe I should clarify,

I'd like to be able to burn games that I grab from torrent sites. I've read the guide and understand the steps involved. The only point of confusion is the patching.

In the begining of this tutorial it was talking about straight rips not being patchable. I have all the equipment except the ability to rip games myself so I need to depend on torrents. So, my question is number one, how do I know if a game is patched/patchable(straight rip/xtreme rip) before I download it(is there an extension or keyword to look for, beside patched), and second how do I know if a game is patched, patchable, not patchable after I download it( extension, open it with ss merger and check?)?

In short, I don't have a problem patching the games, I just wanted to know if there's a way to figure out whether I'm downloading, or have already downloaded a straight rip that won't work no matter what.

If your downloading the game usually it will come with a text/nfo file that gives a little info. I don't think theres really a way to tell if the game your downloading is patched unless the person who uploaded it puts it in the text file that usually comes with the game. If you download the game and aren't sure if it's patched or not.... just patch it anyways using SS Merger 1.7b. lilG-06 already gave you the site containing the files needed when trying to patch the game. Maybe you should look into doing the hotswap method to backup your games (very easy method) then download the ss.bin file and pacth the game.

My suggestion is the samsung drive that many of us are boasting about - but it works like a charm!

I am having trouble burning a copy of NCAA MarchMadness 2007. I do the hot swapt method and then I load my ISO file that I created with ss merger after I hit detect and it tells me that there is "NO" video partition present so it makes it a (pad with blank) Xtreme Style. I usually dont have to deal with that because most of the time it is wxripper style. Any suggestions? If anybody knows how to get around it please let me know thanx.

Newb here! I have tried to read all this thread but no answer, so here goes.
I d/l a game and extract it, it comes in two files IMAGE.000 and IMAGE.DVD.
The image.dvd file contains layerbreak=1913790 (or whatever the number is) and the second line is IMAGE.000

When I use clonecd to burn i get a layerbreak error file not found. When i manually remove the layerbreak line from IMAGE.DVD i can burn then using clonecd but then games dont work.

I have manually put the layerbreak number in DVD Decrypter and had working games but for some DVD Decrypter cannot recognise.

My question is how do you set the layerbreak in clonecd?
Thanks

Go download ImgBurn, I've used ImgBurn and get 100% success when burning Xbox 360 games. Heres a easy tutorial on burning with ImgBurn(free program) http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=516786 I think this program is much better than CloneCD. You also need to definately make sure the layerbreak info you enter is correct or you mines well get use to making coasters. Layerbreak should be typed into ImgBurn and deleted from the .dvd file/IMAGE.dvd & make sure the booktype is set to DVD-ROM. Also, burn using the .dvd file instead of the image.000 to be on the safe side.

Hi guys

There was some talk about burning games only works with a Pioneer burner and Verbatim dvds. Can some one confirm this?

Are there other combinations that work? Can I use my sony burner?
Thanks for an answer and have a nic day

That is not true, a pioneer burner works best for this task, however alot of other burners work 100%, i have used a panasonic, liteon and sony burner, and all work fine for copying my 360/xbox games.

as long as it's a dual layer burner and supports bitsetting, you should be fine.

I don't Usenet, it uses me.

read the nfo that comes w/ the download, it should tell you if it's prepatched.................
if you're still unsure if it's prepatched, load the image in Xbox Backup Creator: select the Image Tools tab, press the Stealth Check button and load the image...it'll tell you if the security sector is present and if it's stealth patched. download here:

http://dwl.xbox-scene.com/xbox360pc/isot..._v2.3.0.185.zip

to get security sectors and stealth patches go here:

http://ss.softmodfiles.net/

I don't Usenet, it uses me.
