nero no good for 360.except if you have a copied game, it can be saved as an image file in Nero and reburned. but i think you need to invest in a pioneer 111d and upgrade the firmware on it, then you should have no probs using clone cd or xbox 360 creator to burn d loaded files...pretty straightforward....

I know Nero is no good for 360 just merely making a point that I have no problems burning the old xbox on my current drive. I think I'll go with the Pioneer 111d, I'm sure the firmware update is pretty straight forward correct? Probably some .exe file that I have to click then the DVD drive is updated right?

Can someone please advise how to get this to work, I have enough coasters to go around already. :-(

What DVD burner is in your PC? What DVD-ROM Drive is on your 360? I've heard that Hitachi's have a hard time reading the dual layer media if it's not set to DVD-ROM when you burn the game. I also had the same problem when I was burning with a old copy of clonecd the Xbox 360 wouldn't recognize the disk and kept saying clean it until I started using ImgBurn and set my booktype/bitsetting to DVD-ROM before burning. You must make sure that if you use CloneCD it's the NEWEST version OR just save yourself the time money without paying and use ImgBurn which is free and a much better program to use in my opinion. I think your problem is the burning software and OR both your booktype and bitsetting for your PC's DVD burner is not set to DVD-ROM. (or your drive may not support booktype/bitsetting)

I've used Xbox Backup Creator, ImgBurn, CDClone...all have failed me. It could be some minor setting that I've overlooked. Anyway, just ordered the 111D dvr as suggested. I'm going to wait until that drive arrive before burning again..;-) So to clarify when I have 2 files (iso & dvd) I should select the .dvd file to burn correct? And thanks guys for all the help so far, glad I stumbled on to this forum.

I was wondering if this is the drive that burns the 360 games most efficiently?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/EXTERNAL-PIONEER-1...1QQcmdZViewItem

can i ask what firmware is needed as you cannot flash external drives?

Have anyone here used Memorex or HP dl discs for 360 backups? I know Verbatim is the best for 360 backups, just curious what other types are also OK to use.

You want to burn the .DVD file. Heres some cheap costing media that works for 360 games (I've used them without any problems), it cost $12.99 + $5.64 S&H for 20 Pack DVD+R DL disk they work for me when making backups. I've only sucessfully burned 360 games using Verbatim and PlayO, PlayO is a much cheaper solution and it's been pretty reliable for me. Verbatims are about 99% sure to work with no mysterious errors but you pay the hefty price for them. One more thing to note walk3er make sure when you get your Pioneer Burner you set the settings in ImgBurn to DVD-ROM under booktype/bitsettings, also manually put the layerbreak number into ImgBurn so you won't have any issues just in case your .DVD file doesn't contain it and just to be on the safe side.
...heres the link for the PlayO DVD+R DL Media

just hope that the laser in your console likes them, and btw you need to state what burner your using as well, not all burners burn on all dual layer discs

Q6600 @ 3.6Ghz 1.4V//Maximus Formula (RF 0902)//2x2GB DDR2 800//8500GT (backup until 5870 comes out)//Corsair 650TX//Under water (30c Idle 50c Load)

Tried again one more time last night..another coaster. lol Definitely waiting for the 111d now before anymore burning. I currently use a Sony DRU700A, I updated the firmware last night still no help. Also, can you please advise on how to set the booktype/bitsettings in ImgBurn? Thanks.

Hey I was wondering how I could make a back-up of a back-up? when I put the copied disc back into my Samsung DVD burner (the special dual layer burner that you don't need to hotswap with) it always performs problems and won't finish putting the File on my PC any ideas?

Yah I just got that yesterday and had a "problem finding file specified" You have to open up the dvd in note pad and rename the second line which reads ccclx.iso to read ccclx-dji.iso it'll work after that.

Heres how to set the booktype/bitsetting> Open ImgBurn > Click Tools > Click Drive > Click Change Booktype. Now choose the Drive you have from the list and if your drives not listed try using RICOH as the drive. After that choose what media your trying to change DVD+R DL from the drop down menu now click new setting and scroll down and choose DVD-ROM and click change. Since you havn't received your drive you can look at those setting and make yourself familiar with them. Another thing you can do is open ImgBurn and leave it at the first screen you see and put one of the coasters in your PC's DVD Burner and wait for it to detect the disk and scroll down you'll see the information appear on how the disk was burned, now look for Physical Format Information (Last Recorded), look for booktype and it'll show how your drive burned the disk weather it burned it as a DVD+R DL or DVD-ROM. If it says DVD+R DL and not DVD-ROM that may be the problem your having. Also, what drive is in your 360 Samsung or Hitachi?

It was burned as DVD+R DL and the Sony drive I am using now I cannot change the booktype, there's no option for it. Regarding the xbox drive I do not remember, but I think it's a Hitachi. Thanks for the detailed reply I should get the drive by Friday will post result.
