Thank's Josh i'll definitly look into Xbox Backup Creator. i had high hopes for Clonecd because that's what everyone was saying to use, and i got 1 game to work that i really wanted by doing the ss merger thing and burned it with clonecd. but yeah with clonecd and imgburn not working even 80% of the time it couldnt hurt me to try Xbox Backup Creator. thanks for your imput :)

ok i got xbox back up creator. i was looking it over quick before class and i wasnt exactly sure how to work it. i'll probly try to burn something tomorrow but i dont want to make any coasters >.< since you said since you got it you havent had a bad burn yet could u give me a little crach course on what you do? there's a lot of options and a lot of boxes under the options tab im not sure what needs to be clicked and stuff hehe. for example under options i would imagine Drive Specific the pull down should read DVD-ROM and then Xbox 360 but other than that im not sure what needs to be what.

@alien1583

Im using Version 2.5,
so if you find something is quite the same on yours,
try downloading this version,
(thats assuming you dont already have it)

1. Right at the top of the window make sure your burner is selected.

2. Make sure the SPTI one is selected (next to drop down menu at top)

3. Click the WRITE tab

4. Under XBOX ISO TYPE, choose XBOX 360, leave BURN ENGINE as XBC

5. Click the big START button

6. Double click your .000 file, NOT .dvd

The burn soudl now start, give it about half an hour, and it should be ready to play

Hope that helps

-Josh

[EDIT].000 file, not .001

thanks for the info so quickly. ok so i dont even need a .dvd file for this thing huh? iv gotten 3 types of image files so far in my experiences: .iso .000 and .360 do you know if XBC works with all of these?

oh and also iv heard that some games come with multiple image files like .001 .002 .003 etc that make up the whole game. if i picked .001 would the rest get burned as well? or should i stick with imgburn and use that if it comes with a .dvd file? (when i heard about that the guy said he used imgburn with the .dvd and it worked. was just wondering if you came accross any of those in your experience)

I know you can use the .dvd file and .000 file with XBOX BACKUP CREATOR
Ive just checked now and XBOX BACKUP CREATOR 2.5 can burn ISO files

If the games comes in .001, .002, .003 etc etc
These aren't image files
There jsut another type of .rar
Double click the first file,
It should open in WinRAR if not just choose to open with WinRAR
Then just extract it like youw ould with .rar files

And IMGBURN can burn the .dvd file
The .dvd file isnt the actual image
Its used to tell the burner what to burn to disk, and when the layer break is
And because you can set GAME ISO TYPE to XBOX 360 in XBOX BACKUP CREATOR, the .dvd file isnt needed

No, those parts make up the actual image, don't believe me? try opening one in WinRAR and you'll see or make a copy of one of your backups using clonecd cause that's what you'll end up with. if they are in 001, .002, .003 style just use imgburn or clonecd and open the .dvd file to burn...

alien1583, I'm not sure how xbc deals w/ those as I've never used it to burn my games, you might wanna google it.

I don't Usenet, it uses me.

ok thanks. well like i said i only heard some people coming accross images like that i have yet to encounter any myself but yeah they said they used imgburn as well and the .dvd for that. clonecd doesnt work for me a lot, nzbs that even come with a .dvd and burn fine my 360 will say unreadable disk. i think iv gotten 1 game to work with clonecd and that was after rebuilding a game with a .bat - i dont like to use imgburn because i get a weird error when the disk tries to finalize at the end and i have to spam "Retry" and sometimes it will eventualy go through and sometimes it never does. however everytime it does go through the game works in my 360 lol. so im hoping XCB will burn me working copies AND not give me weird errors hehe.

ok im starting to burn "dead rising" followed your instructions step by step and i put the burn speed to the lowest. then selected the .000 file. a notice came up saying the video is questionable(idk what to make of that), DMI and PFI are not found(not worried about that cuz u said it wasnt needed), the stealth check failed(not worried about that either), but it said "SS is present!" which is good im guessing hehe. but yeah it's burning now. just one thing, under the Options tab as a whole bunch of stuff. did anything need to be a specific way in there? mainly asking about the right side under Drive Specific there was a whole bunch of options on a pull down menu i didnt know if those had anything to do with anything or not.

another coaster. does anything specific need to be set under the Options tab? cause in imgburn you have to tell your burner to do DVD-ROM burn on its Next write.

or was anything in the XBC notice i got before i burned it say anything that you feel wouldnt make the game work?

ok i burned the same thing with imgburn using the .dvd and it worked. i only had to hit retry once for the disk to finalize. im deleating clonecd from my computer. i'll keep XCB for now. i'll wait for you to give me some info on my latest questions :)

yes, the 112 would work great...in fact any burner that can burn dual layer and can bitset to dvd-rom will work.

on a side note, pioneers autobit set dual layer media to dvd-rom so less work involved when burning, I'd recommend the 112.
I bought the 112d as I had enough of stupid errors and it came with firmware 1.06 and when I ran Nero CD/DVD drive speed and went to the relevant box it didn't mention bitsetting was an option, following this I went to the PIONEER web site and downloaded firmware 1.09 and still the same. I figured what the heck give it a try and I got yet another coaster. Is this because the drive does not support bitsetting? The error I continue to get is disk is dirty. I had a loan of a disk which I knew worked and that ran fine. HELP ME PlEASE THIS HAS COST ME A FORTUNE IN DVD WRITERS/ DVD ROMS AND DVDS..

@DMDIGGY

pioneer drives auto bitset dual layer media...make sure dma, not pio, is enabled for the drive and it's the master, not slave, on your primary ide channel.

see this link on how to set it for dma:

also, you might wanna see if there's an update for your computer/mobo bios.

I don't Usenet, it uses me.

make sure you only have 1 instance of the burning program you're trying to use open...and also, make sure it's the only burning program you have open.
