Oh yeah, burning with a brand new Toshiba laptop (not external dvd burner) and using HP DLDVD+R....
no, the dvd drive needs to be flashed w/ a hacked firmware...this has been discussed in this thread many times over :/

I read the first 10 pages, but the next 54 I skipped when I noticed the first of the thread was years old....
Was hoping there was a way to burn it w/o having to mod my xbox.....
Esp since I dont own an external dvd drive etc etc....
Eh eh?

im using a "samsung writemaster SH-S182D" it says dvd+r dl on the drive. will it work burning 360 games.

Hey my xbox 360 is all of a sudden flashing red lights and I've been hearing that when you push a certain button the red lights flash in a sequence to let you know what the problem is. I was wondering if anyone knew of a site that had information on how to check and what the problems are once you know what lights are flashing?. thanks

Hey i bought The darkness Original and I bumped my xbox 360 and the CD is now scratched and Every time i play it says Disc unreadable :( I dont want to have to spend another R560 on a game that I have nearly completed and i dont have A DL disc writer what do you recommend I should do?

Ok I am sure that this question has been answered on one of the previous 65 pages of this thread. But if someone could help out I would appreciate it.
Here's the situation, I dloaded Smackdown vs. Raw 2007 and I have an .iso image and a .dvd file. Do I need to do the SS merger thing, because it always says it cannot connect to the server or whatever. And which file do I put on the DVD+DL? The iso image or the dvd file?
And what do i need the layerbreak for?

Firstly your right, the question has been answered many times before,
so usually id say go looking through the thread and find it!
but because im bored as hell ill help you out.
A .DVD file doesnt get put onto the disk ever, it tells your burner what to burn onto the disk and what the layer break is.
You cannot tell if your image needs patchin just by having an ISO file and DVD file
You can either read the NFO it came with.
If it says nothign in the NFO you can run STEALTH CHECK on Xbox Backup Creator

How To Do A Stealth Check
1. Open Xbox Backup Creator
Download
2. Click the IMAGE TOOLS tab
3. Click the STEALTH CHECK button
4. Choose your Image, click open and you will see what your image has in it
note: if it says video is questionable dont worry about it, this usually happens when the game has been ripped using samsung pc drvie.
If you have ripped the game from an original using samsung pc drive, you will not need to patch the iso, not sure about other methods though

Layerbreak: This is somethign that tells your burner when to stop burning onto layer 0, and start burning onto layer 1.
If you burn the image using the .dvd file you do not have to worry about layerbreaks
Dont worry about not being able to connect to the server using ss merger, the programme will still work fine.

Theres not much really you can do.
You could swap it with a friends and act none the wiser.
Becuase without a burner you cant burn a backup.
You could tkae it back to the store and say its not been reading in my xbox and see if theyll do a swap, just clean the disk up a little first.

Now you can burn the the game and if everything goes fine the gfame wil work.
Burning Using The .DVD File
1.Open Xbox Backup Creator
2.Select your dvd burner from the top drop down menu
(make sure blank dvd+r dl is in drive
3.Click the write tab
4.Set writing speed, probably 2x or 4x
5.Click the Start button
6.Choose your .dvd file and press open
(make sure the image file 001/ISO is in the same folder as the .dvd file)
7.Wait for the burn to finish
Burning using the ISO file
1.Open Xbox Backup Creator
2.Select your dvd burner from the top drop down menu
(make sure blank dvd+r dl is in drive
3.Click the write tab
4.Set writing speed, probably 2x or 4x
5.Choose xbox 360 under the xbox ISO type menu
6.Click the Start button
7.Choose the image file, press open
8.Wait for the burn to finish

Okay, so i found the PFI file on some website. How do i merge the PFI file to the ISO file?

Okay, the weird thing is that, when i download using the xbox backup creater v2.5's stealth check, it says:
Video is questionable!
PFI is present!
DMI is present!
SS is present!
And when i had it burn into my DL DVD, when i pop the disc into my 360, there's a message saying that it can't read the disc, either use a soft cloth to clean your disc or reboot the system. I wonder what i had gone wrong here? Can some1 help me? I had wasted 3 Verbatim DL DVD discs already.

First off, I know that my tag says Newbie, but Jesus Christ you guys don't read! Sorry for the vent, but after reading only 6 pages I'm annoyed.
Anyway, Tweeder, you should definitely put in big bold letters at the top of your tutorial, REQUIRES FLASHED FIRMWARE, NO WAY TO DO THIS WITHOUT OPENING YOUR SYSTEM to get rid of a lot of those questions. Thanks for the tutorial though, bro, it's a big help!

hi all today ibought a Verbatim DL(2.4X) and burnt oblivion on it it is prepatched so all i had to do was burn it right??and when i insert it in my 360 in says unplayable disc....what did i do wrong i burnt it with CloneCD 5.3.0.1 at 2-2.4x can you tell me what went wrong please...oh and during the burning process the buffer was all the time at 0%....and when i put it in my computer it says that there are 0 objects on the DVD+R DL so please help me on this

now when i put the DVD+R DL(i burnt DiRT) in the xbox it says to put it in a xbox 360 console....wait my dvd writer does not support bitsetting...is that why the games don't work?????

i'm trying to burn a game but i keep getting this "to play this disc put it in a xbox 360 console" my 360 is modded and i have backup games that work but i'm trying to do it myself now and i can't figure out why hey keep turning out this way the games are PAL does this matter my 360 is from north america

Get the Pioneer 112d
and you cannot change a pal game to ntsc or the other way round.
