85 pages of similar problems, no definable answer. LOL! So here I go and maybe someone will have a solution for my problem.
I have:
- modded xbox 360 w/Commodore4Eva iXtreme Hitachi-LG v1.4 firmware = tested (1 game on Memorex media, sometimes doesn't load, but usually does).
- BenQ 1650 burner & Sony AW-G170A burner (IDE)
- Windows XP SP2
- ImgBurn 2.4.0.0 (booktype DVD-ROM set for both)
- XBC 2.8.0.275
- XDVDMulleter b9.7
- Gears of War (sx-gowu.dvd and .000) region free (according to XDVDMulleter)
- Verbatim 2.4x DL disks
- Screen grab of DVDInfo
I have burnt multiple disks and never had one actually play in my 360. I even tried cd-clone, and tried using ASPI interface. No dice. Went back to default settings with ImgBurn.
I get disks that burn and open up in Windows that look like DVDs (folder view shows VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders).
What's missing? How can I give better info to help?

If you look at that screen grab, you'll see that the BenQ has the most recent firmware (BCIC). Shoulda mentioned that.
Should Solid-Burn be enabled in ImgBurn since the BenQ is capable? The default in imgBurn is disabled.

Aaaaand here's the log from my last burn. I used one of the cheaper Memorex discs and a different file, an .ISO with the layer break set manually.

i noticed on your burn log that your burning your discs at 4x but your using 2.4x discs this could be the route of your problem although i doubt it but its still worth a try

i have also just noticed on the img graph you have posted that it says the media type used is ritek and not verbs.360s are very fussy about what media they will accept and i would recommend you stick with verbs.i have never had a single coaster and i have burnt loads

well, it says that the verbs are capable of burning up to 6x on DVD burners capable. I think I did my first burn on 2.4 too.
I just used the Memorex for the log generation. I didn't want to waste another Verb knowing it wouldn't work.
I wish someone would post screen grabs of EVERY setting for the newest ImgBurn and that way I could be sure it is or isn't the program. I will do it myself if I have to, but then every other person out there having probs won't get the benefit of seeing it published right for themselves.
If I rule out ImgBurn, that leaves me my burners....are they supposed to be hooked up in a specific config? Slave mode, Cable-Select, etc? IDE or ATA?
Rule those out and that leaves the images I am burning. Is there something I am supposed to do to the images before burning? I burn using the .dvd file when it is there.
Going back then to the Xbox, it is modded and plays a burnt memorex that my modder gave me. Is there a specific burn setting I need to use for the Hitachi that doesn't apply to the others?

Could it be my hardware? I'm getting the same results from both burners, but I also tried burning with Clone-CD and got the same results. I don't think I altered any of the settings on Clone-CD, but if I recall correctly, the .dvd file wouldn't load properly so I removed the first line from it....I think.

open your dvd file in notepad,
post back teelign us what it says in notepad after doing this.

have you ran a stealth check on your image file it may be that firmware requires your games to be stealth patched.im not very clued up on all the various firmware versions out there so i dont know the score with your one but its got to be worth checking out with xbc.

I typically leave the .dvd file alone. But I think it was clone-cd that would give an error regarding the path of the image file, so you had to remove it, leaving only the layer break information line. But with ImgBurn, I wouldn't touch the .dvd file setup. Just used it as was and it burnt, as you can see above....the layer break is correct and the image too.
Here is the 360 w/Commodore4Eva iXtreme Hitachi-LG v1.4 firmware that was used for my Hitachi-LG.

If My DVD Drive Can Read A DL Disc Thats Got AN Xbox 360 Game On It Does That Mean It Can Burn One?

Download the shareware DVDinfopro (program featured in the image above) and it will tell you all about your hardware's capabilities.

I have ripped a game with Xbox Backup Creator 2.8 and when I attempt to burn the iso file I am getting the following error message
Error opening DVD-ROM[D] for exclusive access and the options to retry, ignore or abort.
If I choose ignore the burn does not complete. I am using a sony dru-810a drive and I have not had any other problems with anything else I use the drive for. Any ideas? bad rip? bad drive? bad media? Thanks for your help!

Just getting back to my problem for a minute....anyone know if this IDE Pioneer drive is reliable for burning 360 games from personal experience?
....just incase it is my BenQ and my Sony that is causing this problem. Like really, is there a setup that is required, like drive set to master or SATA or what?

your drive can be slave or master doesn't matter

Good! Good! Now we are starting to eliminate some possibilities. Now does it have to be SATA or IDE?
Anyone know of a good guide for burning that includes screen grabs for imgBurn? I'll try an older version of imgburn and match the settings.

well, yes, but does that matter to the xbox? If I burn a game in the old IDE style because I do not have SATA, will that affect the read? I know it seems ludicrous to ask, but I'm not a cdfreak so I just want to cover all my bases JIC.

no of course not!!, you can have IDE (ATA) or sata, your DVD burner must be able to burn DL-DVD though...so as long as your computer can burn DL-DVD your fine
note: you want to burn the games with clone cd, nothing else!

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure....glad to have your input to verify it though.
Ok, so I bought a Pioneer 112D and installed it and......it failed. Which is good, because now I don't have to keep the Pioneer when I have a fantastic BenQ drive already. But! I would have liked to burnt just one that did work.
So now I am onto my next step. I have the install folder zipped up from a previous version of ImgBurn that came from a person that successfully burns their own games. So with luck, the settings are still intact and I'll get somewhere with that. It's gotta be software at this point, right? I'll try 2 burns, one with this confirmed software and the new drive and one with the software and the old drive (if it works the first time).
We shall see what we shall see.
