Hey everyone, I just went searching for a Pioneer 111D or 112D but it looks like they are no longer available. What would be the best drive available now for making 360 backups? Thanks.

I'm a little confused now, I searched "Pioneer DVR-A04" in google and a 6 year-old DVD burner was the result... Do you have a link to the model you were talking about?

Thanks all, I appreciate the help.

hi i have never put a game onto a disk but i bought it with a few copied games and they work fine but i have got the files to half life 2 and in the folder were the rar files so i done the thing to decompress them or whatever and there was then the disk image file (.iso) and a .dvd file and on clone cd when i went to select the iso file it had in file type "clone cd image control file" on the .dvd file. but i selected all file types and used the .iso and it copied onto a dual layer dvd at 2x speed and it says unplayable on my xbox 360 even though ive followed everything correctly... how can you tell if its already patched or not? because i didnt patch it just thought it was in .rar files so itsp patched but not sure?

this is of the folder i downloaded and then whats in the .iso file (there is also an audio folder but hasnt anything in it?)

the whole thing is around 7GB so i dont think theres anything missing?

thanks brad

(rewrite it clearer!)
the up loader of the game will mention if he patched it or not!
your are running a ixtreme 360, right!
in clone cd be sure to set your book type to DVD-ROM!
what media?
what version ixtreme? as half life orange box IS A NEW GAME FOR 360 it requires an up to date firmware on your 360

If you look at a few of those links, the reviews for that drive are from 2002.

Why would I need to take apart the 111D or 112D? If I'm just using it to burn (not rip) then do I have to take it apart? I plant to get an external ripping drive with the kreon firmware.

terribly sorry!
now i had thought you wanted to rip games!!
if your going to burn games any DL-DVD burner will do(dont pay over 40 or under 30)!!

the drives i suggested to you were for ripping without kreon firmware. its the old school method that requires the drive to be cracked open;P
good choice with kreon, it makes life easier!

can anyone help? i have an lg gsa h55, i have updated to the latest drivers, the media i am using is ritek 2.4 dual layer.
Anyway the problem is i set imgburn to burn at 2.4, imgburn detects the supported write speed as x4 and so burns at x4.

I read somewhere you can change the write speed by right clicking on the drive, then in the properties change the write speed. Now I have tried to do this with many types of media not just dual layer and it has no effect what so ever as they are settings for windows burning software.

I have read somewhere that the drive and the media you use determine the write speed not the software and this seems to be the case for me anyway. Has anyone manage to resolve this problem because i cannot imagine i am the only one who has experienced this? thanks for any help :)

although imgburn is a great app its not cut out for this, you need to use clonecd as the guide suggests
http://www.slysoft.com/en/clonecd.html

burning a DL-DVD for 360 games at that speed is suicide, when using clonecd the option will be available (your drives max speed it 10x on DL-DVD), remember to set your book type to DVD-ROM

Quote:
ritek 2.4 dual layer

terrible media, you'll get a lot of coasters with it switch to verbatim DL-DVD,

if your still having problems with clonecd, burning speed and such

thanks for the reply tripplite and the advice,

i have tried burning with clone cd as well after i read this topic and it would still only let me burn at 4x even though the disks are supposed to be 2.4x, i set the burning speed to 2.4x, these are the disks:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139425

the burner supports burning at 2.4x, this is the burner:

http://www.logiccomputerhouse.com/site/m...detail&id=13302

i just cannot understand why it wont let me burn at 2.4x???
i am going to try some verbs, i just wanted to sort out this burning speed before i invested in some verbs. Thanks again for your help

no doubt its the media for sure...GET VERBATIM

your medias burning speed is 2.4x, the drive is going to go up to the next interval which is four,
get some verbatim DL-DVD, if it still doesn't work then we'll update the firmware/uninstall the drivers until your drive is acting properly again:)

with ritek 2.4 dual layer the games will have terrible play back, failed burns and sometimes the 360 wont read them at all!!

I disagree w/ this, imgburn is MORE than capable for the job...it's what I recommend. It's constantly being updated and free so you don't have to fuck w/ buying it or fucking w/ cracks and risk a virus.

Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

I don't Usenet, it uses me.

well i managed to find the application for changing the speed your burner burns media at, it is called media speed edit

http://ala42.cdfreaks.com/MCSE/

it does mean you have to you flash your drives firmware, i used this guide

http://club.cdfreaks.com/f91/mediacodesp...58/index36.html

you can customise it so your burner can learn new types of media and set the different speeds :) now i just have to get some decent media :) thanks again for the advise guys :)

yeah it has a option to change the burn speed, but your drive and the media have the final say in what speed it will burn at. That is why I needed mediaspeededit, if it was as simple as clicking the burn speed i would of done that. Before I edited the firmware imgburn would only let me burn at 4x regardless of what speed I set imgburn at, now after editing I can burn at 2.4x.

a force burn on media is not a wise thing, if the drive restricted burning on that media its not a good idea to push the limits especially on crappy media:P

i agree but the firmware and drive does support 2.4x and 4x and was just automatically setting at the higher speed, what was done by editing was just removing the 4x so it burns at the slower speed.
