Quote: tripplite, when I seen the dates on the tut page I figured it was outdated and was looking for a recent tut, but if all's well...then here we go!
NO NO NO!! this guide is still the method used to today!! most games are pre-patched so you only need to burn the .ISO using clone CD, the games will work with ixtreme, more recent games may not work with ixtreme until the next update:)
here is a mirror link of the ss merger: http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=gotodownload&downloadid=1656
if you need a download link for the ss files (security sectors) then PM me!
btw: id say 98% of games are prepatched, you dont need to worry, just burn like the tut says!

Got a couple of questions I was hoping someone could answer. I know that verbatims seems to tbe media of choice, but how does one tell if they are made in Singapore or India?
I have had some weird probs with my burner (sony dru-810a), in order to get XBC working correctly I had to update my firmware. Well, ever since then burning discs (both CD and DVD) are taking twice as long. Same with erasing a DVD RW. I ran a drive speed check in nero and some reason it is only reading at half the speed it use to be. Anyone got any ideas with this one?

it'll say so on the box/case, just like any other product....online sellers are a good way to get them, they mention where they came from
any way i suggest reinstalling your older firmware if your drive will allow it, make sure to do it while windows is in safe mode, if you can install the previous one reinstall the current one (also while in safe mode)
=============================
what is your drives brand/version and such....
after you have tried what i said above i think you should do this....
after that i would suggest reinstalling your drivers!
BOOT INTO SAFE MODE (JUST DO IT!!)
1)Start>My computer> right click >properties
2)hardware tab
3)device manager
4)CD-ROM/DVD drives (names will differ) right click uninstall drive
5) restart into windows
6)upon login you will prompted to install new hardware if not go start>control panel> (make sure your in category view, left hand corner box to enable this)> "Printers and other hardware" >left hand corner "Add hardware", not "ADD PRINTER"
once done you may reboot
otherwise open a thread in the pc hardware section about your drive issues as this isn't really a 360 game burning issue
fell free to post the link here for us to see so that we can help you there:)
questions? issues?

hi could someone guide me through the process on how to burn this for my xbox 360 it seems the method i used failed. BTW I have a dl burner, and i have clone cd.
Here is the process i used with pictures just for reference.
Step 1
I downloaded all the files to a folder called army of two. They are all .rar files

Step 2
After i unrar'd all the files. (i just clicked on the first one and said extract, that extracts all the files right? I dont have to highlight them all?)
I moved the extracted files to a new folder "army of two unrared"
Step 3
But after looking at the extracted files there was still some unrared files in the folder?
So i went ahead and unrared those files, i extracted them in the same folder.
Finally i get a .dvd file and a .iso file, but i still had files that where unrared?

Step 4
I went ahead and burned the .iso with clone cd at 2x and it took about 40 mins until it started to write to disk. Then at about 1 hour it said failed : (
Any help would be great sorry for being a noob. :worship:

make sure all the.rar files are in the same folder....the right click on one and select extract all

set the book type on clone CD to DVD-ROM, then just simply burn the iso at the lowest speed...
now what media are you burning? if your burning to memorex and such media 2 out of 5 burns will fail, and at least 1 of the others will be coasters...im not kidding most burn errors are due to bad media...DL-DVD have many layers and burning 360 games is a thick process, much different then burning to a DATA DVD+R DL
so what media should you use?
VERBATIM PERIOD! NO OTHER WILL DO!
questions? issues?

awesome thanks for the help so far tripplite. Im going to repost the scenario cause i have some more indept questions.
Quote: can someone help me with burning this?
1. Ok so i downloaded all the .rar files to a folder
2. I right click on first file and click on "extract here"
3. All the files get extracted, causing a new folder to appear called "Tom.Clancys.Rainbow.Six.Vegas.2.PAL.X360-Allstars"
4. Within this folder there is more .rar files and some non .rar files starting from .r30 up to .r57
****From step 5+ is a little questionable****
5. I right click on the first file in the new folder("Tom.Clancys.Rainbow.Six.Vegas.2.PAL.X360-Allstars") and go to "extract here"
6. I see an .iso image file and a .dvd file, the .iso file is about 7 gigs while the .dvd is about 10 kb.
7. Using clone cd do i burn the .iso file since its a bigger size? Or do i burn the .dvd file?
Thanks
Quote: Ok so i burned the .dvd file with a memorex disc, because i have a memorex burner thought it would work. I am assuming that it failed because i didnt use verbatim discs??
Here is a pic of the error message

have a Hitachi xbox360 drive. I have copy games that I got off a friend. . I want to make other copies of these games. I was going to use the below link http://www.clevermod.com/Article/18.html.
I don?t have a DVD image of the file.
How can I make a DVD image of the of my back up game. Can I use Xbox Backup Creator to make and image. But will this image work on Hitachi Xbox drive.
I have original games that I want to back up. I have a pioneer 11d drive. I used the wxripped method.
I change the layout file the three different ways that was explained in the tutorial(
http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=539922 (see below )
but keep getting different kinds errors.
Ie Error @ 548864 : Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
Regarding the layout file:
- Usually the first 3 lines are like this:
* C19408
* D1072
* C109344
- People say to change them to this (bold represents the changes):
* D19408 <- D = Dummy instead of C (Copy)
* D1072 <- Same as original
* D109344 <- D= Dummy instead of C (Copy)
In this case, all you're doing is 'faking' the first three lines. I figured out that 9 out of 10 problems occur at the 3rd line, so that's really the only one you need to Dummy. Therefore:
- Most of the time this will work (bold represents the only change):
* C19408 <- Same as original
* D1072 <- Same as original
* D109344 <- D = Dummy instead of C (Copy)
This way you get more of the original information. I'm not sure if this matters, but I say more is better when it comes to duplicating a game.
If you want to go even further:
- Since I noticed most people (myself included) occasionally get a CRC error at 91136, escpeically on games like Tomb Raider and Hitman, I use this layout (replace first 3 lines with these 4):
* C19408 <- Same as orignal
* D1072 <- Same as orignal
* C91135 <- Original used to be C109344, which I split into 2 parts, stopping at 1 byte before my CRC error @ 91136
* D18209 <- Dummy the remainder of the part that gives the error. 18209 (this line) + 91135 (previous line) = 109344 (original number)

computers can be daffy but from what you shown me i can see that this is purley a media issue, as i said before a 360 game burn is a beast to burn, littlerly i could go through 15 memorex disc and they would all fail/or "cannot be read error", get some verbatim singapore and try a again, if that doesn't work there is a boat load of troubleshooting steps we can go through!
--------------------
i see your burning on vista, nothing wrong with that but try xp, some ppl say that clone-cd doesn't work to swell on vista....but im not so sure how liable that is............
(on a note im glade to help anyone like you, i really appreciate that you mention the details and dont act like a n00b)

I have two questions:
1. Can i still play movie DVD's (so single layer) if i have modified my drive? I have read somewere that a flashed drive only read DL DVD's. Is this true?
2. I have read on several site's that Verbatim DVD DL are the best one to use. Verbatim are 50 euro for 25 DL DVD's. Philips are 28 euro for 25 DVD's. So is Philips good enough? It's much cheaper. (burning both on 2.4x)

1~ use the latest ixtreme firmware and the original games along with DVDs and backups can be played!
2~ i have said it once i'll say it again, 360 games are a monster of a burn, on cheap media you'll get alot of coasters and even doggy discs, most people use cheap media from the stores, the game wont work....they switch to verbatim then BAM there game is working!
http://cgi.ebay.com/20-VERBATIM-DVD-R-DU...1QQcmdZViewItem
you want to try to get singapore, but i find that all verbatim discs have basically the same results:)
