Hello,
I've used this thread to try and help me produce my own backup copies because i've bought about 35 all off the internet but I've realized that I can actually do it cheaper. However this method is turning out to be more expensive as I can't seem to get it to work!!
Obviously my 360 is compatible because I have never had a faulty backup copy, however I managed to burn 14 Dual Layer discs and have had 1 success so obviously there is something im doing wrong!
Here are the steps I take:
1. I download the the .rar files
2. Extract them to produce the .dvd and .iso file
3. Burn using CDclone 5
4. "Unplayable Disc"
5. Throw it in the Bin
Im now tired of this repetitive frustration and so am looking for some final help before i give in.
I have, however been using, Memorex and Imation Dual layer discs
(7 of each so far)
And obviously one has worked
(An Imation one)
Im using a new Pioneer burner (not sure which model)
Does anybody have any Ideas or advice they could give please?
Would be extremely grateful!
Thanks Alot

so because you can play backups you have the latest ixtreme correct?
since you had one success then we know your booktype and everything else is set right:
======================================
Quote: have, however been using, Memorex and Imation Dual layer discs
ONLY USE VERBATIM DVD+R DL (made in Singapore if possible)
memorex and imation make crappy media, it would be fine for anything else but for 360 games which are a complicated burn require top-notch media, coasters (bad burns) are very rare with verbatim
you'll see the difference:)

Hi, i've been 'trying' to burn xbox 360 games for the past few days with much frustration!!
I've been reading this thread and found it most helpful, so cheers for that!
Right, i'll explain my situation and see if anyone help me?!
I've downloaded a few 360 games from various sources, all of which I would say are trustworthy of being decent rips etc. I've unrar'd the files to be given a ".iso", or ".dvd and .000 file".
I've used Verbatim DL DVD+R media, a Lite-On Dual Layer burner (which i set to 'DVD-ROM' and I have checked the games i've downloaded with 'Mulleter', they are all patched correctly. Only 1 out of 9 discs has actually burnt and been read by the 360, and that was using 'Cookies 360 game burner'. The ones with CloneCD come up in the xbox 360 as 'unreadable disc'
I've tried to burn Call of Duty 4 (which was a .iso), that kept failing, and then most recently Fifa Street 3 (which was a .dvd file and .000 file) I changed the .000 extension to .iso.
Now I am nearly out of Verbatim discs and feel very frustrated!!
I'll appreciate any help you guys can give me, thanks.

DL DVD+R drives with older firmwares have issues with keeping the burn rate of a DL DVD steady, what is the brand/model/version of your drive? try updating its firmware:) and of course burn at 2x (2.4x)

your drive is pretty recent (2005)and burns perfect with the DVD-ROM booktype:)the success rate of memorex discs is at a low 15%, with verbatim were seeing a mix of 80%-95%,most "dirty disc errors" that occur with verbatim media are due to the user, they either burn to fast/dont set they're booktype or they have dieing burner,
the fact that you've had 2 good burns with memorex is a miracle and speaks well for your burner:) once you get the verbatim try a few burns (2x speed/2.4x) and if they are still coming out bad report here and well help you until everything is all peachy:)
you'll see with verbatim everything will work out swell,

Dear Tripplite
I have followed your guide, but i cant seem to burn either with CloneCD, CloneDVD OR Nero!!!
My last hope is to get answers from people on this this forum.
I just got my new Optiarc AD-7200S DVD Dual Layer burner and it works fine.
I also got 20 DVD+R DL Verbatim disks.
The problem is that with any of the programs i use, the Burnprocess fails and only 1 % of the disk gets used and then i have to throw it, ARGH!
I have used like 6 DVDs now and what can the problem be?!?!?!
PLEASE help me Tripplite
GAME ON!

I forgot to tell you that the burner is connected via SATA and i have bought a VIA PCI SATA card since i dont have a new computer with
(4 years old)
The burner is connected through that PCI Card.
Can this have something to do with the error that the drive wont start to write?

LOL i didnt make the guide tweeder did, but he has long since been gone:(
your drive is an internal one which you are using as an external..nothing wrong with that make sure its on a flat surface
Quote: Motorized tray load mechanism for horizontal and vertical use
its listed as a drive that supports both vertical and horizontal burning, but if its on an angle it can have issues:)
make sure its molex power 4 pin is stable along with its sata, make sure they're both nice and snug:)
make sure your burning at a 2.4x speed, also your drive is pretty new November ish time, they probably updated the firmware and epically with DVD DL burns a firmware update corrects many a issue:)

have you tried burning a regular DVD+R/CD-R with clone CD? try it and see how it goes! what were you burning the .iso or the .dvd?
your iso maybe corrupt or it was un-rared wrong, did you download all the parts to it? have you only tried one iso or multiple iso's?

I've ripped my own games succesfully in the past, but my Kreon drive was broken so for now I have to resort to newsgroups and torrents to find games.
Anyway I have a bit of a noob question, if I download a game that's not properly patched and stealthed can this be done in clonecd, or am I up shit creek?
BTW I have Benq with Ixtreme 1.4 F/W

When i got the burner i screwed it in my PC so the angle isnt any problem is it?
The only thing was that the power supply SATA didnt go all the way in cus another burner was in the way.
Ill remove this and then try.
All my games where .iso and .dvd when i downloaded them, so they where already extracted, and i burned the .dvd with cloneCD.
I have tried 4 isos, all with the same problem
The Firmware update i tried failed after 5 seconds so im going to try one from the link you gave me.
GAME ON!

Dear Tripplite
The firmware update was a sucsess ^_^
Thanks for the quick reply and help!
I have now burned and played Conan, Gears of War and DMoMM:Elements but....
Always a "but" isnt there?
I randomly get this error message saying: This disk cannot be played, please clean the disk and then restart, or something like that.
When this error appears i can hear a sound from the DVD drive in the Xbox 360.
Its like the disk is stuck and trying to play but it cant. *click* *click* *click* over and over.... '-_-
I tried to set the console from standing to laying down, but it didnt help.
What can i do or is there nothing i can do about this?
