Is anybody actually using this codec... if there is, please try and convince me it is worth the trouble cos the size of the generated files is great (a third of the source AC3 file) yet audio interleaving is a nightmare, winamp and media player are probably the best to use to view a avi+audX file... which is a joke since to get the audio correctly aligned (using vdmod) is useless... cos then if the 5.1 is aligned then the stereo/mono mode is not!!!!!!! which is a problem since file sharing is useless since most people dont use audX!

So is AudX crap or is it just me! I've reverted back to using AC3 instead (way more stable and vlc loves it... and I love vlc!)
HELP?

treid it an it was too much of a hassle, youre not the only one. AC3 is more compatible (i use MPC and VLC) and has simpler codecs IMO.

The problem is that some of the players are not fully DirectShow compatible (while our decoder is a direct show filter).
Therefore sometimes Aud-X stream is decoded by standard mp3 decoder, which recognizes it as mono/stereo (not 5.1).

The simplest way to overcome this is to use fully compatible player,
such as Media Player Classic (MPC)

For more info on how to configure the MPC, please check out this tread.

There is one additional argument in the discussion (AC3 vs Aud-X).
Aud-X HGHQ (192 kbps) is DolbyProLogicII compatible, so
your home theatre system should be able to decode the stream
to 5.1 (when played from standalone DVD player)

Cheers, 3d
