Hi,

I am currently trying to remove the front tray of my fat PS2 (SCPH 30003) but I'm having trouble because I am unsure which "clips" the guide is referring to (I have an idea but am wary of breaking the thing)

Does anyone have any good guides on how to do it, or any tips?

Cheers.

Just break the clips. Its a lot less of a headache. Mine are broken off, but the tray cover still stays in place when I put it back on.

You ain't gonna use that dust cover on the front of the tray again after you discover the delights a slide tool and back-ups give you but I think there is also a screw at one end to remove. One of my clips broke, but I have never put the facia back on since anyway.

Well i dont either & the manuals have probably been deleted. Cant't really help u out there. I had a Swamp Magic before and i just used the knife method. but looking at the videos, picts... I still dont know how u can drag the tray out with the tool. Seeing the videos and picts look like u stick the slide card under the tray as far to the left as posible and slide the card to the right and pull it out.
NOTE: insert the slide card with the cut out part (circleish) on the right

EDIT: As i said stick the slide card in as far left as posible if u have the PRO version the one that came with the front cover (tray cover) u have to install it for that quote to work and would be eaiser.

IF you press eject, the PS2 should have pulled the og back to it' place to lock it. What the white clog does is lower the laser's housing to actually let you pull the tray. If that's not in place, the tray mechanism is basically dead as the white clog is what gives it it's functionality. My friend, you have broken your white clog! Check out my response to that on the thread you made solely about it. It's no biggie. Though, this is why I recommend the flip top: you have absolutely no moving parts you can actually ruin with it. And that's just so much more comfortable (and the slide tool is a lot of work anyways lol)

It can't get off track with the tray because it's pretty tight in there. Only way for it to come out is breaking it. So, yes it is off track but broken. The only way to get it off track without breaking it is by pulling the tray completely out. It's pretty rigid when it's inside. Which is why it take a bit of force to unlock the try using the slide tool. And sometimes, some people over-measure their force and just break it. :-/ That's why I hate the slide tool so much lol

I dont like Swamp Magic. I'm too lazy for it hafta swamp and stuff, like a PS1 codebreaker. But its also nice to have and is a simple solution. For example if u have a modded PS2 u can play backups without swamping. But if you go to your friends house or somewhere most likely they dont have a modded ps2 or have no clue about modchip. And u can play your backups on your friends ps2
