Hi :)

That error means that there is a problem with the IFO's or Shrink cant handle the movie encryption.

Use DVDFab decrypter(free) (2.9.8.0) it will break the encryption while puting the movie onto your HDD then use shrink/Nero. This should solve your problem if not use AnyDVD from slysoft 21 day trial, both can be downloaded by using the link in my sig ;)

Yes that error means it's a newer disc and good ol' shrink can't handle the new encryption.

Dling DVDFab is the right move.

Well, what do you wanna do? Open DVDFab express, and decide if you wanna back up the entire disc or just the main title.

Click whichever option you want, specify WHERE to put the contents of the new folder (where the DVD will be ripped to) and go forward. Once it's done, open Shrink and then click Open File. Navigate to where that folder is (I have a folder in My Documents specified just for Backup DVDs) and voila.

Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I may sound stupid, but when I get that message, it means the movie is PAL format and not Ntcs format. I don't know where ur from or where u got the movie, but maybe it needs 2 b converted to NTSC format 4 DVD Shrink to recognize it. Don't know, just a suggestion.

what up sunup,

yeah thats what u have to do, find where the movie was ripped to and then use shrink to encode it.

also for the newer sony and disney movies u have to run it through VOBblanker before u run it thru shrink, i can't remember if i had to run it thru VOBblanker, however u get an error message using shrink then u have to run the ripped movie thru VOBblanker before shrink.
There are guides for VOBblanker too.
heres that giude by alkohol

sunup,
After you open DVDfab decrypter, you should see a line that says "target". Click on the "..." button to the right of target and you can specify where you want to save the movie.

After DVDfab is done, just open shrink and browse to where you saved the movie.

Good Luck

@sunup

Either you're doing wrong and or forgot a step that's all. DVDFAB Decrypter (FREE, only 12 minutes to rip) + VobBlanker (FREE, only 5 minutes to process the VIDEO_TS.IFO and "blank out" unwanted junks) has never failed me, it has worked and still work 100% flawlessly. The rest is history with either DVD Shrink, Nero Recoded 2 or DVD-RB Pro + CCE SP (the choice is yours).

For more info on how to use "DVDFAB Decrypter + VobBlanker", use the guide under my signature (link) or the link provided by member 300bowler.

Good luck and happy burning.

Or you can try the new program RipIt4Me which will use the old DVD Decrypter program and then import a PSL file. You will use FixVTS to clean up that file. Did Syriana, 8Below and Underworld Revolution trying the program out, all came out good. There is a guide using the Wizard mode that will create/import your PSL. Guide is in my sig.

sunup, try and run the ripped file through VOBblanker and that will probably work, like i said in previous post for the newer movies u have to use vobblanker if u get an error while using shrink. the guide is in my other post.

repost if that still doesn't work

Here is the guide for DVDFab Decrypter and VobBlanker

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/334154

Or try RipIt4Me, I did PP with this program and it came out fine. The software and guide are in my sig. Example of PP is in the guide, it shows how it was done.
