well movies are usually traded around p2p programs like kazaa emule dc++ etc etc, mIRC is the best place but not for newbies!

Dont get Kazaa, because it will plague you computer with pop up ads. Get Kazaa Lite. It doesnt have popups, ads, and many extra features.

I would suggest you get a good newsreader. Many people like Agent, I find it not as useful as NewsBin Pro. Then subscribe to alt.binaries.movies or any other news group containing movies. You will find the ones that have your taste. This way you can look and see what is available, and make requests that someone post something. You have to check the groups almost daily though becasue large files don't stay on the server for long.

I am with [netnews.attbi.com], they are not the best but they do carry postings for at least 24 hrs. I also subscribe to two pay servers [news.athenannews.com] and news.corenews.com]. The big advantage of downloading through a news server is that what you get is usualy what you want. I do use WinMX <http://www.winmx.com/> at times, they are a p2p that is good because you can communicate directly with the poster to find out for sure what he has is what you want. There are still those that post missnamed files. I don't like Kazaa because you have no way of communicating with the poster and WinMx usualy has a faster download speed. If you do use Kazaa be sure to use Kazaa Lite, the full version has ads. Also visit this website and read the results posted there. You may decide not to use Kazaa at all. I intend to uninstall it from my computer.

I dont use kazaa much, maybe K-lite++ for sampling music before i buy it! I use eMule and DC++ because with eMule, there are ed2k link posting websites to ensure you are not getting a fake file and DC++ only allow the best sharers into the best hubs so you are guaranteed a lot!! IRC is still the best IMHO! The only thing that can get on your nerves with it is being stuck on a queue for a very long time!! FTP is great if its on a fast conenction. From my experience with Newsgroups i found them reliable, only thing i wouldnt like is you basically only have a day or two to grab what's posted before it has to be deleted! But i'll still go for a pay service soon anyway just to have it there!!

is winmx really reliable? i'm so desperate. i have a 56 k modem, it's taking me about three million years to download each of the 3 parts of 'the italian job' from Kazaa. I know it sux, but it's all i have right now. what would you recommend? i have the sonic mydvd program which is fairly reliable to rip video into dvd, but i don't have a reliable source for video files. please help.

Do you realise that you are asking where to download moives for free. Thats pirating and isnt tolerated on this forum. Moderators wouldnt like that.

You are right we have gotton very close to a forbiden area. I was just trying to offer sites to download P2P software. My advice to anyone is "just rent movies" that is the cheapest and most reliable. If you want any advice on VCD or DVD players or software go to http://www.dvdrhelp.com/

True which is why i wouldnt reply!! My earlier posts were talking about reliability of filesharing schemes and programs, not where to get movies!!
