if i boot up swap magic with the memory card, does that mean i dont need the tools?

No it doesn't. You will always need to use a slidetool with swaps unless u got a fliptop. How are u using Swapmagic from ur MC, did you copy it from the disc onto there or is it installed as the exploit boot.elf
