Hi. I'm having some trouble getting Tenchu to work no matter which method I try. First off, I'm using a PSP v1.50 JAP with DevHook v0.41d.

The first method I tried was dummying all the language files other than english in my untouched ISO using YAUIS v0.3a and UMDGen. By using this method, I got the game to run just fine. The cutscenes, in game music, everything worked fine but when I tried to start playing, the game crashed and the PSP restarted just after the opening cutscene of Rikimaru's first mission. This happens with all the characters.

Secondly, I tried to use the tutorial that svtstang put up for the Tenchu RipKit available at PS2NFO. Everything worked fine until the part where I had to extract the PSP_GAME folder from my patched ISO. For some readon, when I tried to open the patched ISO using UMDGen v3.02, it didn't like it and froze up. I also noticed that my patched ISO's filesize was 0kb.

If anyone can shed some light on this problem, I'd be extremely grateful.

Below are the details of the ISOs that I'm using:

Untouched ISO:

Title: Tenchu: Time of The Assasins
Region: EUR
Filesize: 1.66 GB

UMDGen ISO (Ripped):

Title: Tenchu: Time of The Assasins
Region: EUR
Filesize: 356.46 MB
Ripped: All files in Folders:

SYSDIR/UPDATE
USRDIR/FR USRDIR/GE
USRDIR/IT
USRDIR/SP

EDIT: In case that wasn't enough info, here are the DevHook v0.41d settings that I used:

Homebrew: DevHook v0.41d
UMD Mount: ISO AnyUMD
UMD Version: 2.xx -> 2.00
Firmware: 2.50
CPU Clock: 333MHz/166MHz
Boot Select: Reboot XMB

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Hope you can help!

Edit 2: Bump! C'mon people, someone somewhere must know something to help! Anybody?

Try using UMD Gen 3.00, thats what I used. All you did was open the patched iso, right click PSP_GAME and push extract right. Some ppl do crazy things, and make simple steps monsters. Also, if you want, post a print screen.

Nope. Sorry, that didn't work either. I just don't understand it. When, I use the rip that I made (Which is basically what the ripkit does - removed all the extra languages and the update files) everything else works fine. Its just the actual playing that doesnt work. Can anyone think of any reason for this? The cutscenes, the options, heck, even the autosave works. I have a feeling that the problem lies somewhere within DevHook. Can anyone suggest any better settings for me to try? Thanks.

P.S: Has anyone actually played the game? I mean properly played as in done a mission.

You did mention UMDGen freezing up in an earlier post of yours, before you made the tutorial. How did you resolve the issue then? And did you use DevHook or something else to get the game to run? Did you CiSO it or run the ISO itself? Please Help!

UMD Gen wasnt my problem, apply the patch was. i didnt realize running the patch ate so much vritual memory on my comp, and I have ADD at times, which led to frezzing and lagging. Just patched it, let the kit do its thing, came back in 10 mintues and all was well. And yes, I used Devhook, just like all other 2.6 fw required games. Ciso'd it as well, everything works fine, except the stealth kills dont look all that good anymore. Post in my tut and note the specific step giving you problems.
