I opened my PS2, which was working fine except for GT4, for lens height adjustment and cleaing the laser. It was going OK. I tried a couple of dvds while it was open, they ran fine. Then after I cleaned the lens with a q-tip (using alchohol), and put a dvd in it, the dvd spins rather jerks four times and then sits idle. If I dont put in a disc, it just spins once and thats it.

So what could be the problem here?

Hmmm... did you dry up the lens properly after rubbing it a bit with the alcohol? IF you leave the slightest drop on the lens, the glass on the laser gets burnt and the laser basically dies! I killed a PSOne that way. The PS2 spins the disc a couple of times trying to read it until it gives up. Apparently, it's having a really hard time reading your DVD's now, so you could have burnt out your PS2's laser by cleaning it improperly!

Yes I did dry it with a dry q-tip. Is there anyways I could test if my laser is dead?
