ok,so a while ago my ps2 stopped working,i was playing prince of persia 3 and it started lagging,then just hangend and then would not read any discs afterwards,since then i have tried to align my ps2 myself and without any luck gave up,then randomly one day i put a music disk in and it read it and played the songs,i restarted it and it would not work,and has not since,it also recently giving it to someone i know for repairs,he said that he replaced the laser and it works,unfortuanatly it does not work,when i put a disc in,it takes about 10 seconds to pass the black screen and then i open the browser and it says reading disk and i even left it like that for 5 min and it still just said reading disk,so i've giving up hope and i think that guy hasn't even replaced the laser,how do check to see if a new laser has been put in???

i also want to add that my ps2 does not make the normal loading up noize,it just simply is very quite or just starts spinning extremely fast,it sounds like it's gonna blow up and then starts making a clicking sound every 2 secs,i don't know if this helps,but i found it really odd

this happend to me 1 month ago i dont know what it is but i got told it was my motherboard so i went and bought a new ps2 this is what happend ot me

i put a disc in then it goes to the browser menu then keeps saying reading disc for ages then discread error so i left GT4 in there and it started reading it n then i played a burnt tomb raider legend and turned it off n neva worked again is this the same with you?

yeah pretty much...i first thought it might be dust on it's cpu or something,cuz that's what happened to my pc,it stopped working cuz it had dust on it's cpu,that's why i tried to clean my ps2 out,but i don't have a compresses air thingy,so i just use my mouth and some brushes,i'm thinking about getting a new one,but right now i just don't see the point in buying a new one since i'm gonna get a ps3 in nov,so it's pointless...o well thanx anyways...i cannot wait for ps3!
