I have a weird problem maybe someone has some input on it.I have a friend that has copied some movies for me. They play for her but when I go to watch the movies I can watch all the previews and when I hit the play button it will not go past the start screen. I am playing these on a regular dvd player. I know she uses dvdfab to burn and it is different brands of disc. Some of the movies this has happended with is Eight below, Glory Road and firewall.
Any ideas?

sounds like a media problem with your stand alone player. The disks that your friend is burning have a problem with your player. They could be low quality media and pixelate, freeze, or skip when playing. Or, you just might have to clean the disk to get it to work right and let your player be able to read them. If those disks play fine on the computer and not on the player it's the player having trouble reading them and that's why it acts like it does. Try burning to better media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell...... the ones made in Japan are the good ones! Verbatim made in Taiwan/Singapore are the only exception to the MIJ disks.

Those movies are all highly protected and the player has hit the blank sectors at the beginning of the movie. Your friend did not get all the protection off of them. You can try running them through VobBlanker and see if it will remove the bad cells and then reburn.

but Arniebear ...... if the disk is already copied to a DVD-5 or DVD-9 then wouldn't it be safe to assume that the copy protection was eleminated so it can be copied? That's why I thought it was a media problem. Hmmmmmmm this puts more thought into what I already know! Another thing I learned...... and this dog is old! hahahahhahahahaha

I have had this happen before with ripguard movies, the blank cells at the beginning of the movie will pause the player. Running them through VB will get rid of them. Some players are just sensitive to them. You can try starting the movie at the second chapter to see if it plays, if it does then it is the blank cells.
