Does anyone know what the test points are for adjusting the laser with an oscilloscope?? A picture would be great.

Thanks for the effort Q4 but I need the test points on the board to hook up an oscilloscope. I've seen pictures showing older versions of PS2 that show this. I've tried adjusting the pots with a meter and I'm having no luck on the DVD.

A fuse diagram for the board might be able to at least point you in the right direction. Now I'm curious though as to why you need it?

Hello again Q4i,

If you look at this link it will show you what I'm talking about. It shows how to use an oscilloscope to adjust the pots to achieve the desired waveform for the CD and DVD. Also shows where to connect the O scope "test points" but unfortunately for the older versions.

The good thing about a scope is that it won't ruin any of the electronics if used properly, so trial and error can't hurt. Also. if it comes to it I can say that I have made the adjustments, minus an oscilloscope, with great success and no problems.

I didn'have any luck finding the test points so I finally gave in and bought a new one. I think the laser was fried. I tried for days adjusting those pots and had the CD working fine, just couldn't get the DVD.

That sucks. It's too bad that it didn't work out better for you, but on the bright side you shouldn't have any problems with the new one in the future.
