First off i have a slim ps2 (v14) that i just got recently. I used the tissue and tape method and it worked fine.

I played my first backup for about 15min and went to the bathroom only to come back to "please insert disc" so i hit reset.. nothing.. all i get is the memory card in browser. i open up the top and the disc didn't move, the laser doesn't do a thing. i opened my ps2 back up and everything looks fine. I checked all the ribbons and connections.

sorry if this has been answered before. i did a search. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah. Havn't worked on it at all. I have been busy with my psp. I'm guessing that I must have broken the sensor that tells the ps2 the lid is closed.

Ok, do the sensors look damaged? have you tried removing the tissue, and tape, and seen if it works without them?

Yeah, I removed the tape but it seems it left some sticky residue and the sensor won't pop out. I tried cleaning it the best i could but I think it got inside. Other than that it looks like the sensors are fine.

Ok, so when you press the sensors down, there is no laser movement, it doesnt move back and forth on the rods?

Well if its not the ribbon cables then it can be a fuse on the motherboard, because even if the laser was blown the driver IC will still make the laser move back and forth, so i think that it can be a possible blown fuse on the motherboard, search google and see if you can find a diagram for v14 fuses, im busy right now, when i get time i will post one up. You will need a multimeter to test the fuses.
