Is there any way to play DVD-R backups for ps2 games on PS2 Slimline version without use of a modchip,

I have AR2 and some original PS2 CD's AND DVD's

please help

what is so special in swap magic? i thought its almost like AR2 and also slimlines have fliptops for replacement, so whats the difference betweeen AR,GS and Swap magic which allows it to boot backups without modchip
