Can anyone walk me through the steps on what to do? I want to be able to copy my games to the hard drive and play them from it. I bought the Network adapter and installed it with a 100gb hd but that is as far as I can get. I dont know which software to do and what order to do it. Ive tried burning discs but none of them boot on the ps2. Is there anything I can do without needing anything else or purchasing anything else now?

First do you have modchip or swap magic?

You need:
1) HDAdvance or HDLoader (depending on if you have one of the two things above)
2) Winhiip to copy games (check http://list.ps2hd.com/ for compatibility). The HDD should be connected to the PC either via IDE or an USB enclosure

No, I dont have either. I have read that you can download swap magic but it wont work unless you have the mod chip to read burned cd's. Is that true? Is there anyway around using one of those items?

Yes it's true, you can't download swap magic. You WILL need to buy one of the following two if that's the case:
- swap magic
- HDAdvance 3.0

Personally my suggestion is buy swap magic, then download HDLoader 0.8b (HDAdvance 3.0 is a pressed version of HDLoader 0.7c). Unfortunately to play games off HDD you'll need to spend some money, at least you've got a network adaptor and HDD already :) swap magic is a lot cheaper compared to these two

Or, you have the Action Replay MAX option. Do you have access to an original copy of it? With ARMax you can exploit your PS2 without the need for SwapMagic or pressed HDAdvanced discs. Plus, you can install CogSwap which would do the same function as SwapMagic and can also run the free HDLoader from your memory card (or your hard drive once the exploit is installed).

That should help you out further. Also, make sure you do a forum wise search before asking questions. This is probably the most asked question on this specific forum.

plug the hard drive to the network adapter set as master driver
get an hdloader or advance disc and put it in the ps2 and it'll format the harddrive.

when it's finished boot up hdloader and hit install and it says what to do from there
