I have just dl'ed a LocoRoco .cso file (635 megs) what are the programs I need to get it running properly besides devhook 0.42a? (first time poster. :P)

hi there, as you read in the topic title, I just downloaded a while ago and after downgrading* from 2.6 I decided I really want to try this game out. I heard that you needed devhook to play it so I went and downloaded that from pspupdates.qj.net. now, I searched the forums before posting and it seems for 2.6 games that you need a lot of programs to patch it and stuff then to get it to run. if somebody could give me a link w/ a list or just list them here I'd be greatly appreciated. (I know the spec's of devhook so don't worry about that.) :)
the only thing I'm confused about is what do I about the LocoRoco file since it's in .cso format? I tried putting it into the ISO folder and running devhook 0.42a but it froze when it rebooted. do I need to convert to .iso and if so, how?
any help w/ this is greatly appreciated! :D I read the forum rules before-hand so I hope I'm not breaking them since I've seen other topic about this similar problem. I'll do a search for more info in a little bit. thanks again.

Wow, i like members like you, it seems that you actually give a sh!t:) Normally, you need UMD Gen to patch iso's (can be found at psp-hacks.com in the download section). Loco Roco noramlly requires a ppf patch or prx swap to work, but since it is n .cso format it is fine as is. .cso is just a way to compress iso's, you dont need to do anything with it. Please pot your boot setings using devhook, and hopefully i can see a mistake so you can get your iso working:)

hopefully it's been patched or swapped already, so just post the settings like he said, lets see if we can get it working.

wow, it's already good to go?! uber sweet-ness! I hope nothings wrong w/ it. XD ok, back to business: I was using devhook 0.42a, but the only devhook version I heard about on here was devhook 0.41d (or was it 0.41b?), so I tried that. ok, lemme post the specifications of devhook 0.41d as they are columned in the program:
reboot XMB
ms0:/ISO/locoroco-eur-full.cso
ISO ANYUMD
2.xx -> 2.00
ms0:/dh/250(MS HOOK)
222/111
01.05.0001
3.725v
and that's it. the last one isa my battery: O.o I have one question though: I think I received dh folders from hackmypsp.com that had all the firmware folders in it, but it was like 13 or 16 megs I think. I'm wondering why it's so big compared to the other dh folders that are a lot less. any ideas? also, these are the same spec's I used for my devhook 0.42b.
sorry for the mixup! the only devhook versions I was using are versions 0.41D and 0.42B I've never used an edit function before but it's really handy. :)

All the settings are right, is dehooked insstalled properly/ Do other 2.6 games work?

I haven't tried any other 2.6 games. you think it could just be the locoroco file? and which devhook should I use: 0.41d or 0.42b?

ok, I'll use 0.41d from now on, althoguh i'll keep 0.42b as an alternate back-up just in case. ;D oh, and I've been wondering something: can devhook play 2.00-2.60 UMD's? I've been wanting to play GTA, MGA2, and MHF again. XD
well, if devhook should run the game by itself w/o anything else helping it I'm starting to wonder if it IS the file it self, perhaps I should search and download a different iso/cso of near the same capacity. I'll search around, thanks.

I know it can run 2.0/2.5 UMDs. But I'm not sure if it can run 2.6 UMDs.

I just tried it, didn't work. >.< that's ok though. :) so if all the settings are correct for the LocoRoco iso to run then what's the problem do you think, should I search for a different iso and try that? I'm not sure if telling me the site where you got the download from is ilolegal, just linking to it is according to the rules. I'll look around some more. XD I'm determined to get LocoRoco running no matter what! :o

I think I know what your problem is.
Do you have firmware 2.5 in flash files in a folder called dh\250 in the root of your memory stick?
If you dont this wont work. Download a pack that contains all of the flash files that are needed from here:

oh my god!!!! eternalis, your download made it work! thank you so much, I am in your debt! there was an opening movie so I'm guessing it's the full version. thank you guys so all your help!!!! I'm trying out the4 first lvl right now. ^.^ I'll sto posting so this thread can dye a happy death. ;D

use devhook 0.43 i had the same problem, and devhook 0.43 worked for me

could evolve123 or cerynii please PM what was said to get cerynii past his problem, cos I'm in the EXACT same situation. I'm guessing it's the PXRs and PBP in the cso need editing, but I'd rather find out if it's something different before going to the trouble of teaching myself how to edit such files just yet.
I'm using devhook 43 btw.
