Ok

1. Programs you need, if you don't already have them.
PS2cdgen3.0 - to make the elf app cd of ps2menu with other stuff.
Cd burning app such as Nero or Alcohol 120.

2. Get PS2Menu and other great apps from http://www.skapps.com
But to load the elf from your MC you first need to have the exploit on there so try goin here http://www.exploitstation.com

3. Now that you have the needed files for this. Next you need to make a system.cnf file. Ok now create a new .txt file, open it up Now type this in exactly how its put below:

BOOT2 = cdrom0:\PS2MENU.ELF;1
VER = 1.10
VMODE = NTSC

Now save the new txt, and rename it to system.cnf. There thats done now the next step

4. Open up ps2cdgen and drag all the files which are ur HDLoader, ps2menu.elf and system.cnf! onto cdgen.

5. Now the last important thing to do is you need to right click on system.cnf in cdgen and select fixlba, change it to 12231. Ok its done now you can make the image and burn it.

This method is meant for swapmagic users, but modchips all u do is just whack the files on without needing anything else.

Finaly once you've booted the cd. And your in ps2menu, go into your BxDATA-SYSTEM dir on the mc and press /\ on .. which is the 2nd line from the top inside there. Press R1 to select the CDFS, and then go on the elf you want 2 copy and press triangle again to copy it where it says down the bottom. There thats it, you should hav ur elf on the memcard now under your BADATA (NTSC) or BEDATA europe. If you have any probs just let me know.

Hope that helps

Oh, forgot to mention that it wont work properly if it doesn't find the required IRX drivers on the cd. You will need to find them somewhere and download try google.

There's 3 of them, and they have to go on the cd with ps2menu and in BxDATA aswell along with boot.elf. For the exploit boot.elf u have to make a copy of ps2menu.elf and rename it BOOT.ELF that one goes in the BxDATA and u need title.db with an original ps1 game have you got that?. And you got to put the disc id in title.db with titleman then when it finds the psx disc in titledb it boots 2 MC.

cdvd.irx
iop.irx
iomanx.irx

Its tricky for a first time, once you get to know how 2 do it its easy!. I know when i first was new to this i couldnt get the exploit going, until finaly it worked for me one day after a few attempts. This time it should work 4u since it will have the needed files. If you still cant get it working. Then I could always upload my setup files for DL, but i haven't got a place for hostin it.

Cheers

Sorry but i dont have a PS1 game :(

EDIT:

I just read up some instructions on matrix infinity's site

they say to use R1 to launch mc0:boot/boot.elf

and after installilng boot.elf to hdd using their dev2 installed,
hold L1 after boot to launch boot.elf from hdd

It launches the file in both processes, but first time it showed up game list from hdd

now everytime I launch, it stucks on splash screen and dont show up game list screen.

why so ?

regards.

I would recomend putting HDLoader on your hard drive instead of your memory card. HDLoader isn't that big, but it does take up like 5 saves worth of space on your mem card. I put all my elfs in the /boot partition.

Same here i have all mine on the there too. And for some reason my ps2menuk mc-backups part which i had been using got f'dup and i couldn't use it eva since. Lucky the boot partition works. You cant take full advantage of this unless the exploit is there and it works, or a chip.

Hey all,

Maybe I am misreading this thread....I thought these were directions on how to boot the ps2 from a memory card, without having to use a trigger disc. Am I wrong? The reason I ask is because on another forum, I've read that this is not possible. You always have to have some sort of trigger disc, like a PS1 disc (which I happen to have anyway).

Thanks

Hey Emugamer,
You need to research what the "memory card exploit" is here on Afterdawn. There is a lot of information available on it too. If you need help with some of the terms that you may run into, feel free to PM me.

How do I get HDloader from my memory card to my HD on my PS2? Or should I hook up the HD to my computer , download the file (Location?) and then put the HD back into my PS2?

How do I boot the HDLoader once it is on my HD, do I hold R1 just like if its going from the memory card?

THANKS!
