I posted earlier..(help!!!) that I was having problems with my copying of discs.. Well, someone recommended new types of discs and also stated to update my firmware? I have attempted to update my drivers, but not the firmware... Is that the same thing. And, I they are not, how do I find the manufacturer of my DVD to get firmware... I looked in properties, but it does not say...

Any help would be appreciated... Also, what are the best dics to use to copy DVD's... Thanks.

yes updating the firmware/drive is the same thing

look on the back of the drive to get the info what drive and model it is.

Taiyo Yuden and or Verbatim is your best choice for blank media

here is the firmware page:

http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_search.php

just put in your drive name and model # in the search box and check to see what firmware is available for your drive. If you don't know what firmware you have you can use DVDDecrypter to check out everything.

and if you don't have DVDDecrypter, you should! Get it Here, it's freeeeeee:

Firmware for your burner as that sets new write strategies for new media thats out..

Firmware is programming that is inserted into a programmable memory area of your drive, thus becoming a permanent part of a drive. This 'software' is called firmware and can be updated with a firmware flasher. Every company has its own methods to allow you to do a firmware upgrade. A firmware upgrade can add new functionality to your drive. Also bug fixes and improvements are done by firmware upgrades.
