ok i have the printable 16x Verb +R disks, so i burned a movie using the verb and it does not play in my Panasonic DVD-recorder/player standalone, however it does play in my Hitachi Dvd standalone player, also i have done two burns at different speeds and both did not work on my panasonic player but both worked in my othe dvd player.

also the error i get is that may be something physical wrong or may need cleaning from the panasonic

Well 300bowler sounds like the problem is the panasonic not the verbs.
What speeds did you use? Firmware up to date on the burner?

You might just want to pick up a dvd lens cleaner & run it thru the panasonic - may help if the lens is dusty.

Panasonics tend to like -R better than +R discs. Did you booktype the +R disc to be a DVD Rom? That will make it more compatable with stand alone players. Your burner has to support Booktyping. A few don't, but I think most do. What burner do you use?

Here is info on Booktyping, if you're not familiar with it.

If your burner is a LiteOn, here is where to download the Booktype utility, for it.

Good luck!

My stepfather had a dvd player that wouldn't play -R or +R discs, at all. I booktyped my +R discs to DVD Rom, and they played flawlessly. So, booktyping can make a big difference.

Early Panasonic DVD players/recorders will not play +R/RW discs because they "violate" the DVD Forum standards. Changing the book type setting is merely disguising the DVD+R/RW disc as a DVD-ROM to fool Panasonic equipment and other equipment into thinking that the disc is a pressed disc. This also violates the standard; but it works. The same thing cannot be done with DVD-R/RW because, by definition, that format conforms to the DVD Forum standards. When players cannot play -R/RW, it is often because the player does not recognize the recordable code on them. These media can't lie about their heritage the way DVD+ discs can.

thanks for the replys but i just find out that the panasonic recorder/player doesn't support +Rs only -Rs.

BTW it is pretty new only like six months old, man i would think that most of all these new recorders/players would support all of the formats but i guess not.

@JVC,
i have a pioneer DVR-108 burner and sony DRU-500A
i am wondering if pioneers or sonys can do that booktyping thing
nevermind i downloaded dvd info pro and it said both were not able to booktype.
