In DVD Shrink 3.2, trying to backup the movie Syriana. When I click the "Backup!" button I get a "This program has preformed an illegal operation and will be shut down" error. Here's the details.

DVD Shrink 3 caused an invalid page fault in
module MMC.DLL at 0167:190277e4.

scott6457 DVD Shrink has not been updated in some time and cannot do the newer movies. Shrink is still very good, but what you need is something new and strong and there are some very good free programs for doing the newer protections on the new movies. The new protections are Ripguard and Arcoss and puppetlock. To do them you will need DVDFab Decrypter to rip and then you can also use DVD Shrink. If you want the best out there then try for 21 days free AnyDVD and Clone DVD II they are awesome for doing the new movies and are updated on a regular basis. Just checkout the sites below and see for yourself. If you have any problems just get back here and someone will be glad to help... Good luck.

The new version of RipIt4Me V 1.3.0.0 is out and will do this movie without any flaws.

Still having the same problem. Im running Win 98 SE by the way. From what I've read on the internet, the problem is caused by something in Nero and Shrink conflicting and causing the MMC.DLL problem. Not sure how to solve it though. Help please.

What version of Nero are you running, and have you tried to use any other sw to burn, such as DVD Decrypter or ImgBurn both should work only you must ouput your file in iso format. Syriana has new protection on it so use a program that cleans the file up before you try using Shrink, you can use VobBlanker with DVDFab Decrypter or RipIt4Me includes FixVTS which will clean also.

Turn off Enable burning with Nero in the options and see if it works. Also how much ram do you have?

EDIT: Remember that Shrink will not break that movie's encryption. I am trying to help you to get rid of that error first.
