Whenever I enter the swapmagic dvd cd my ps2 makes a screechy sound and it gives me an error but every other cd I put in works fine including the other cd that came with it. Is this a problem with my laser not being able to read it or is it just a faulty dvd that I should replace? If it does load at all when I swap the game it just brings me back to the browser, and rarely does the actual game load...

sounds like a laser problem, try cleaning the laser lens and adjust the laser
|

I got the same problem than you.. Im going to test if its really the DVD or not, I am going to order another copy of SwapMagic 3.6.. All of my others games works perfectly too ! Only the cd and dvd of swap magic 3 gives me errors..
Or like Dan said, It might be the laser..

In my case I think its the laser since on other games it will make that grinding sound for a few seconds than stop, I guess the swap magic disc is harder to read...and I hope to hear about your results when you get the new dvd and cd.

Guys i recently ordered Swap Magic Coder 3.8,and the CD worked
great.but the DVD would never load,just a black screen,
so i returned it,and received another DVD.
And Guess what,that didn't work either,so i've come to the realization it has to be the len,it's a ver.7,
my question is,should i re-adjust the len,that is time consuming,
Has any one had this problem with their Coder 3.8 DVD,
can you load DVD games with the CD,i haven't tried that.

try cleaning the laser lens, and then adjusting it... yes it is time consuming, but sometimes you gotta put in the time and effort
no swap magic CD won't work with DVD backups, besides if your PS2 laser won't read the swap magic DVD then chances are it probably won't like your DVD backups either?

Thanks Dan...
I was a bit concerned, because several weeks ago my son got tangled
in the power cord and it fell,and it wouldn't read jack,i openned it,and adjusted the DVD and Cd screws,and it started to read again,
it reads DVD a little slow,at start up, so that may be the problem,so i just may tweak the DVD screw again.
I always clean the laser len every 2 months,but the thing is, after
i posted the fisrt query, i called several friends who also have a ps2, and loaded The Swap Magic 3.8 Coder in their ps2's and the CD worked,but the DVD didn't,various versions,so i have some concerns.

so you are saying the DVD version of swap magic doesn't work on yours or your friends' PS2 and you have got it changed for a new disc? Maybe you should look at getting the discs from another place if that's the case...?

I got the disc from ultimate game consoles,one of the companies listed as retailers recommended by swap magic.
Like what are the chances i could get 2 bad disc ya'know.
I haven't got around to tweaking the screw yet,but i'll let everyone know the results, i'll post it,to help someone elde who may have this problem.

Oh by the way, i'll ordered things from this company before,so i've never had a problem with them,so thats why i trusted them,ya'know, if you've had a positive relationship with a company you are prone to go back.
has any one else obtained bad swap magic dvd disc,any one know of?

I was seeking for a ps2 boot disk, thanks for your form I now know
that it is not posible to download one even if you could it would not
work without the original boot cd.
I would now go and buy swapmagic ,it is just hard broken because
I live in south africa and have to pay 10 time more !!!

I BOUGHT THE SWAP MAGIC 3.6 AND DOSEN'T WORK.I CAN'T EVEN GET PASS THE SPLASH SCREEN.THE CD DISC WON'T EVEN BOOT AND THE DVD DISC IS STUCK ON THE SPLASH SCREEN. I BOUGHT THEM FROM GIANT STORE.COM.SO WHEN I RETURN THEM I'M PROBABLY GET 2 MORE THAT'S WORKS THE SAME.I TRIED THEM ON A FRESH OUT THE BOX PS2 VERSION 7.THE DVD DISC BOOTED ONCE AND THEN THAT WAS ALL SHE WROTE.STUCK ON THE SPLASH SCREEN FOREVERANDEVERANDEVERANDEVERANDEVER.MIGHT TRY THE MODCHIP FROM DIVINEO. THE SMD4 OR SOME CRAP LIKE THAT. ONE!!!
