I have just recently got one tree hill the first season and i cant back it up for my sister (wont let her touch the originals) im using DVD Shrink with AnyDVD running in the back ground it keeps comming up with "cycle redundince error" or whatever it is and i have had this problem before so i usually copy the film onto my xbox and then transfer it to my pc and back it up that way but shrink keeps asking for a file which isnt there its not on the origional either, has anyone else had this problem if so how do i get round it?? please help thanks
Make sure that your disc is free of dirt and scratches. Try ripping to HDD first with the ripper feature of AnyDVD and then proceed with DVD Shrink as usual. Also make sure that your AnyDVD is up to date.
thanks for the help but still in need, i got ripit4me and copyed disc two (made my sis happy) but when it comes to disc three i can get DVD Decrypter to rip it to the hdd (after having to skip one file) as it did with disc two and have used fixVTS but when it comes to shrinking it thats where the problem reaches, it analysies it but when i click backup it get to about 5% then erorrs "out of memory peramiter is incorrect" so im stuck on backing up disc three can anyone please help as me and my sis are getting irritated thanks
i understand your irritation! hang in there a bit longer. someone here will likely figure out what you need to do. two questions. did you disable/exit AnyDVD when running RipIt4Me (possible conflict)? have you considered trying the DVDFabDecrypter/VobBlanker combination? (they are both freeware and you need to disable/exit AnyDVD when using them.)
Under the Tools menu > Settings > I/O Tab > Click on "Elby CDIO-Elaborate Bytes"
Under the General Tab > uncheck "Check For Structure Protection"
See if that helps.
If that doen't work, another thought. Since this is Season 1, I don't think you even need to run AnyDVD. I seem to remember DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter by itself was sufficient. I would disable AnyDVD and try DVD Decrypter or DVDFab Decrypter by themselves as surfgeo suggested.
Don't make the changes to DVD Decrypter stated above if you're not running AnyDVD.
soz bout this but its really doing my head in, ok here is what i have done.
1st i tried to back it up as i do all my films by using DVD Shrink (the lateist ver.) with AnyDVD running (also lateist ver.) it came up with cycle redundincy error (the disc is only 6 days old no scratches or finger prints on it)
2nd i got ripit4me and tried it that way, without AnyDVD running, and it rips the film (i have to skip the first file as it keeps erorring but i did this with disc two and it worked) but when i come to shrink it i get the erorr "out of memory perimater is incorrect"
3rd i downloaded dvdfab to try as i had read that might work, no luck it just started to hang then lock up
4th i got VOB blanker and tried to use that with the files i still had on my hdd from DVD Decrypter, shrink let me back it up and copy it to disc but the dvd just plays the WB logo in a loop
5th i havent got to yet but it looks like the disc will be going out of the window to see if it can fly as easy as it is to make a backup jk!! so if anyone has had the same problem or could surgest anything else that might work i would love them for ever, so would me sis thanks
Activate AnyDVD again. Put the disk in the drive. Double click the red fox head in the taskbar. What protections does AnyDVD say the disk has. If you want, copy and paste the AnyDVD report back here.
Also do you have any friends with systems you can try doing this on? It may be your drive is a poor reader of DVDs.
I've searched the archives here and elsewhere and there doesn't seem to be reports of problems with this titleset.
How is DVD Shrink set up? Is it set up to output a folder of video files, an iso image file, to iso file and burn with DVD Decrypter, or burn with Nero? If the latter, what version of Nero do you have?
yeah, sometimes life is hard! i hate it when that happens!
IF all the software is set up properly (including any other decrypters such as AnyDVD, DVD43, etc. correctly on or off), (1) i'm wondering if the disk is bad. (2) if you have access to another computer with appropriate software you could see if you get the same errors (bad disk?) or not (if it works using the same software on another computer, there is some software conflict on your setup). (3) i once had a problem with DVDFabDecrypter hanging/not processing the dvd correctly. out of frustration i rebooted my system and tried again... still didn't work, but made more progress. rebooted again and it all worked perfectly! go figure! no idea why that would happen, except some kind of corruption somewhere that was eventually remedied by two reboots (maybe just a coincidence and the good computer fairy had sprinkled some magic dust while i wasn't looking...). (4) i'm assuming you have the latest versions of all the software... since any of these software combos seem to work for even the most current elaborate encryption systems, hard to imagine they can't handle your dvd title... which leads me to suspect software conflict or bad disk... could be your reader is finicky too... reboot... reply... attempt to maintain sanity!
