I am fairly inexperienced in converting movies from one format to another - my wife watches movies and I fart with computers. Anyway, I have successfully converted about a dozen movies from .avi to DVD by using WinAVI, DVDShrink, and Nero (working together). In WinAVI I always choose NTSC (something like that) in the "advanced" section and then simply use DVDshrink to make the DVD file compatible with standard, PC-type DVDs. When I choose "Backup" in DVDShrink it reads the DVD file and eventually opens Nero and burns the thing... I read a tutorial, somewhere, and following a few simple steps I am usually successful. However, I downloaded RoboCop 2 (which my wife likes) and, though WinAVI converted it to a DVD style file which my computer plays perfectly, when burned to DVD using DVDShrink and Nero the end result is a disc that starts to play and then hangs up (almost immediately). I've wasted about 8 DVDs messing wiht this thing. I've used a couple of differnet brands of DVDs, etc. Why would one video conversio fail in this way when the others usually work (think I've had this happen once before)?

one problem could be that the movie that you downloaded could be bad, you never know what you are geting as far as quailty when you download movies, you could try using vso converttodvd it works great also what speed are you burning at? the slower the better also media, bad media will give bad burns, also no multitasking while you are burning, and as far as the movie you are trying to burn, it is so old you could go to walmart and buy the movie for like $5.00 bucks, thain back it up so you know your geting a good sorce, good luck and happy burning have a nice day

Advice you change another ripper to test it. Many time it doesnt work cause by the programme or system. You'd better make sure your computer healthy is well. Then download another ripper for test. There is a newest DVD ripper, which is the most advanced one i can get now. Download it if your problem still exist.

Isn't that the link that people were saying gave them a virus?

99% of all problems are between the computer and the chair.
