PS2 worsening during play

So i start playin my ps2 for like 20 minutes. Then, it froze for like a half a second once and it was ok. 5-10 minutes later it starts freezing more and more. Then later it just stops during a loading screen and i turn it off.i am using swap magic and a DVD+R game. Also it makes sounds like it is having a problem with moving the laser but i oiled it b4 i started. I havent had time to try it out again but i will soon hopefully.

Any ideas why this happened?

First of all your using DVD+Rs which don't really work for ps2. If you want to use backups, burn onto DVD-Rs. Also, i would try buying a can of dust remover and cleaning out your ps2 and ps2's fan.

Ohright does this happen with every game ...even normal games? I suggest perhaps you adjust your laser gear slightly but not much

Not true. Depends on what version ps2 you have, Only the early models wont play +R because +R didnt exsist back then, the +R format is actually sony's own technology. -R is pioneer's tech and is the older technology but both have advantages over each other.
For me personally, I only ever use the best available +R disc's booktyped to DVD-ROM on my slimline and have never had a media problem. Allthough everybody has their own personal preference.

i would agree alafossb cause i have a v14 ps2 and it freezes alot with plus so did my old v9 but both are meant to be compatible with dvd+-/+-rw

well i only have one game at the moment but ima get another soon. So il try another dvd. Also just to let u know, my burner does do book-typing, im using verbatim dvd+r's and my PS2 version is V4.

I didn't say DVD+Rs don't work with ps2, i just simply said it's easier to use DVD-Rs..or at least in my experiance with all the ps2s i have used and worked with, -r has always been much more flexible. id first try a diffrent dvd +r brand. if that doesn't work then if you have a friend with a -r burner id just try at least 1 DVD-R to burn your iso on (don't use sony's blank dvds..they're a bit of a pain to use iso and other image files on compared to companies like philips) and see if that works.

The way i see it, you have to much dust in ur console, try opening it and remove the fan, open the fan then clean it, if you dont know how to open the fan, go to your nearest computer shop or someone who knows about computers, they should know how to service a fan, if you know how good, but remember to take a cloth then dip it in oil and then rub the magnets of the fan with it, you can find oil at your neares hardware store, you can use any type but not you use in cars.

Also see where your ps2 is standing, try placing it on a little table.
