Trying to back up a copy of Disney's The Jungle Book. The disc plays fine in all 4 of my home DVD players. When I insert it into my PC's, one with a pioneer 110 drive the other with a 111, it's saying no disc prsent. The original dvd was purchased on e-bay. Any ideas?

Hello.

Do your PC drives recognize other DVDs? Is it just this particular DVD that's not recognized?

Does the DVD show up at all in My Computer?

Is it recognized, but doesn't play?

Have you tried opening a playback program first and then loading the DVD?

Are You sure the DVD is not a Bootleg Copy that was obtained in error. Because the same thing happened to me. I bought The Jungle Book From a reliable seller on ebay. He had purchased it in a bulk shipment. It Played in a stand alone, but was not recognized on my computer's Burner. So I don't have a back-up of the DVD. Disney doesn't have it for sale on DVD either. The First release date was 1999.

This one has really got me scratching my head. I've backed up over a 1,000 movies & have never run into anything like this. Neither my Pioneer 110 or 111 drives recognize the disc. It won't open no matter what I try & open it with, it just keeps saying,"No Disc Present". I read somewhere that many of the Disney discs on E-bay come out of Singapore. With that in mind, I went into my Device manager to my DVD Drive properties. It allows you to change the DVD region up to 5 times to match certain discs. I changed mine once to Sinagpore, that did not work. Now it won't let me switch back to the original setting. I keep getting a pop up block saying, "Unable to update region setting. Please make sure the drive contains a region 1 media". Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Not sure if it's a bootleg copy or not. The seller's swears it's not. If it is, it's the best bootleg I've ever seen. The graphics on the case & the disc look like factory to me. I purchases at least a dozen others from the same seller without this problem.

Just for the heck of it, this morning I tried popping the disc into my HP laptop & get this, it does recognize the disc. I can play it in Win DVD & I can back it up with Fab Decrypter. Weird!

Anyway, I still need to figure out how to get my DVD drive off the current Singapore Region 6 setting & back to the U.S. region 1 setting. Any input would be appreciated.

Hello.

You can make your burner region free with firmware at the link below. Just scroll down to the Pioneer 110.

http://tdb.rpc1.org/

I assume you're in region 1. The popup said you needed a R1 disk in the drive. Did you have one loaded?

@cujo007,

As an avid Disney collector, I would be leery of buying any "Out of Print" Disney off of Ebay. Were they selling more that 1 of the same title? Or a lot of OOP titles? If they were, most likely a bootleg. Even if they seem to be a reputable seller, most people do not know the difference between a bootleg and the real McCoy and as long as it plays will give positive feedback.

This is the site, I go to for release dates of Disney:

Laddyboy, thanks for the tip. I think that did the trick. Again, the disc may well be a botleg but the seller insisted it wasn't. I did some checking before purchasing it and everything I found stated that the movie was never released on dvd as of yet but I figured for the price, I'd give it a shot anyway. Thanks to everyone for their input. Happy burning to all!
