ok i know for sure this question has been asked before, but it needs more attention for us in the UK.
the fact of the matter is for someone like myself who lives in the uk it is alot harder to get hold of a true ps2 premod vendor.
I came on this site getting all the information i needed to move onto the next stage and get my ps2 mod.
I was given the sound advice to get a FAT(NOT SLIM) PS2 pre-mod V7 DMS4 Pro SE, but the trouble is living in the uk, the only vendors which sell modded playstations are SLIM versions. as you can see this leaves me in a pickle.
this is not even including the fact that anything bought over here from the uk is just under double the price of which the U.S. sites sell it for e.g.teammodders.com

so apart for the the well used ghost2fitter.co.uk for gettin SLIM's, where could i get a my premodded PS2 V7 with DMS4 Pro SE

v7 is preferred by many people, but the slimline doesnt really have any problems, the only problems it had when v12 came out was the laser would burn out, which is resolved with a laser fix, which most professional modders will install, im in the UK iswell, and its difficult to get hold of a pre-modded v7 unless if its second hand. So my advice is just go for the slimline, ive had mine modded for over a year now, and its running smoothly ever since.

Ok, the same chip, DMS4 Pro SE should run perfect on a slimline, and will allow you to use a hard drive via usb port i think, because thats how i use a HD on my slimline.

If you want to add a hard drive then do not buy a slim PSTwo unless you want to start shelling out more money.
Here is why. The slim PSTwo works fine, yes. It does still have heat isuues but in the last few versions the laser problem was fixed.
USB Hard drives are a waste of your money, they are more expensive and will give you only one of the benefits of having a hard drive, which is saving the laser. The other advantage is increased load times, which you will not get from USB as it is slower. So it will run games with little or no increased loading times. And although a USB hard drive will work, the DMS4 Pro is more geared towards features that support an internal IDE (ATA100) type of HDD.
For this to be what you want you would have to buy the Slimline PSTwo, Get the DMS4 Pro SE chip, have the slimline installed into an HD Combo case (about $55 USD for the case) and while they did that have them install the hard drive as well. A fantastic system once done, but also a bit expensive. This is they system i have as you can see in my sig below.

The V7 on the other hand you would just have to have a chip installed and the rest you could do yourself for just the cost of parts like the network adapter and hard drive (compatible of course). which are the only other 2 things you would need.

Check out some game shops in your area, i am sure the UK has them too. These would be the best place to find one of the refurbished chunky style PS2's
then get that modded.
If all else fails you can expect to pay quite a bit to have a Slimline modded as i described above.
