ok here's my problem. i put a 200 gb hard drive in my ps2 and i got the hd advance cd almost about a year ago. everything's been going fine until about a week ago. everytime i try to load a game on my ps2 the wait time for it to finish jumps from 1 minute to 45 minutes constantly until it almost gets finished, and right at the end it gives an error message. i don't want to get rid of my ps2 because when i put any type of cd inside the drive it works perfect.

Not all games are compatible.
Are you sure your 'rip' is good and/or
the game is compatible with HD advance?

its not really such a good idea to add games to your HDD with your laser because it can put alot of stress on it.i suggest using winhip or hdl dump

i own gta san andreas and i already have it on my hard drive once but i did it again earlier and it won't work either. i wasn't having any trouble until a few weeks ago. i don't get it. how do you use winhip or hdl dump?

Winhiip and HDL Dump are pretty striaght forward. Install your hard drive in your computer and run the program. From within the program you will have pull down fields that you can select your hard drive from. The rest is pretty much clearly labeled.

Very easy programs to use even if you've never seen them before.

Well if the game worked before then you know it is compatible.
Is the disc scratched up or not clean? This will cause read errors.
Also what error message are you getting.
You can do the above and use your PC but that is a complete hassle.
Why worry about having to take out your drive everytime you want to put a game on it when you can copy it strait from the disc. It is a lot less stress on the laser reading the disc once to put it on your hard drive then reading it every time you play the game from disc.
Plus if you wanted another option you could just spend $12 and buy a crossover cable and set up an FTP connection between the PS2 and PC and transfer the games to and from the PC that way an not have to remove the drive, install it in the PC, put the game on, take it out of the PC, put it back in the PS2, then hope it works.

The only reasons i can see for not working is a dirty or damaged disc. A back up that is on cheap media the PS2 has a problem reading, or a laser that is weak and having problems.

well i thank you everyone for the suggestions. this is the craziest thing i've ever seen. every single time i try and load games to the hard drive it ranges from 1 minute to 54 minutes all the way throughout the burn process. then when it almost finishes it gives me the error message again. would it be possible to geta few links so i can get a better understanding of these programs?
