using AnyDVD with dvdshrink3.2, getting an error that says,DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue. Failed to read file "E:\" Data Error (cyclic redundancy check).

I'm getting the same thing with Nero, trying to back up T2 - Ultimate Edition

Any help is appreciated

Hi :)

Use the latest version of AnyDVD (6.0.3.1) and use the ripper function to put the movie onto your HDD then open shrink to compress.

If you want to use AnyDVD in the background make sure the little red fox is showing in your taskbar.

Check your disc, make sure there is no dirt, scratches, give the disc a good clean.

I actually tried to use AnyDVD first to rip to the HDD, but right at about 45% - 50% it asks me if I want to ignore a read error, I choose yes and it continues to rip but them the timer goes crazy and nothing is transferring. The timer starts to read 1036secs and the transfer rate goes to 0kil/s. I tried to just leave it but it seems as though there is no progress so I just cancel the entire thing.

I'm trying to use AnyDVD again and it's processing vts_01_4, it's at 46% processed(0.03mb/s)--2803:54 secs to go. This happens everytime I try to use AnyDVD on this disc. I even tried recode to rip the main movie and it fails with no reason why.

Like I said clean your disc. You could be one of the unlucky ones to have a badly pressed dvd and if that is the case you will need to exchange it.

Give DVDFab Decrypter a try and then run it through VobBlanker, then compress with shrink. Both progs are free.

VobBlanker download and guide:

and here is a guide made by Alkohol

I have did all that you have instructed but I have noticed something, it hangs when it gets to VTS_01_4, with AnyDVD,DVDFab Decrypter, and Nero all hang when it gets to this section of the disc, it does have a few scratches and maybe this is the reason, may need to return to get another disc

Looks like your only option is to exchange it, only if you have done everything I have suggested.

There is only one more option and that is a program called Ripit4me have a look here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/360110

@jamestony

I "don't" recommend ripping with DVDFAB Decrypter while AnyDVD is running in the background because they'll just conflict one another, thus you're having issues. Either to use DVDFAB Decrypter alone or AnyDVD by itself, but "never" them together.

To be honest with you, I've been using DVDFAB Decrypter (12 minutes to rip into HD) since it's first introduced and I've never experienced any issues or I've never seen/encountered any dvds/movies that I cannot rip whatsoever. So far, DVDFAB Decrypter has worked and still work 100% flawlessly.

Either you got a bad pressed or AnyDVD is conflicting with DVDFAB Decrypter. Again, just use DVDFAB Decrypter alone to rip and you should be fine.

WARNING: Do not "update/upgrade" your SAMSUNG BD-D5XXX series (Bluray Player), or else you cant enjoy any of your movie files.

Thanks for the info, but it turned out to be a bad disc, it was badly scratched. I returned and received a new one from blockbuster and had no problems after that. Thanks for all the help.
