u also need the network disc from sony to save network settings on ur memory card

Not necessarily, most games have an option to set all that up anyway, before you go online for the 1st time.

Hook a cable between your wireless router and your PS2 network adapter. Use the network disk (included with the network adapter) to setup all the details which are saved onto the mem card. And bobs your uncle.

If you dont want to use cables, you can use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge. Hook that up to the back of your network adapter and your good to go. I, myself have a wireless bridge since my router is downstairs and at the opposite side of the house!
