exploit + keylauncher - booting ps1 games (problem)

i installed the exploit and it boots keylauncher. it says L3 boots a ps1 backup (v9 only). mine's v9, but when i try to boot a ps1 backup it does get to the old red "P" logo, the SCEA logo, but it always freezes there. what's the deal? i tried using cogswap that is included in the exploit but can't get it to work for ps1 games, only ps2. it just spins the disc when i hit X and never stops or does anything else.

Could be a media problem, also that PS2s don't seem to like CDs very much. Have you tried the game before so you know that it works and is not the problem with the disc?

yeah, i still have a ps1 that's chipped and they work on there. and i can play ps2 cd-based games no problem.
but i was looking through this forum yesterday and remember seeing someone else report the same problem. someone suggested loading SMS (media player) and then using Exit which returns you to the ps2 Browser, and launching the ps1 games from there (it shows up as a valid disc). i try that and get the same result.
