Lost Run & Search Function.

Hi.
recently my daughter installed google earth pro given to her from a "friend".
since the initial install which wasnt even google earth, i started to get ads upon ads, i took a few hours out to clean my system, eventually getting rid of it all using everything from adaware to Spybot to ewido. all done in safe mode, then a complete scan with Mcafee. ok everything going great until i went to search function in the start menu, its gone, no sign what so ever, then noticed my Run function gone too.
googled the prob and found alot mentioned about right clicking on start , then properties and customise, and then enable the command in the menu, but nothing there.. any assistance would be very much appreciated..

it should be there if u right-Click on the start button and select properties,
then u select the CUSTOMIZE button, and another box comes up,
in there u have to select the ADVANCED tab up at the top,
then in the middle of that box is says START MENU ITEMS,
u then have 2 scroll down all the way 2 the bottom and check the box next to search

Ty 300 for the help..
but that is what i was trying to say ... have done all that and there is no start menu in that box.. the help and support is there but no sign of the search function or the run function button selection box..
again any help would be appreciated..

are u sure the search and run command aren't there
maybe u can try system restore and see if it comes back
i gotta say that is weird no search or run showing up

yup m8 as sure as the wifes goin to break me with her credit card usage :).
both run and search are gone. tried a system restore but again for some unknown reason it was turned off(something i never do) and wont restart..
machines running fine but really annoying without search..
looks like a format and re-install is on the cards :)
really appreciate your help m8..

yup i guess thats ur last resort to fix this problem, but maybe wait a little while and see if anybody else can help,
sorry i couldn't help ya
im sorry but i gotta say again that is wierd then dissapearing like that especially the run command
PS. have u tried to run a registry fixer program as maybe that will find a missing key or something like that.
