I tried using shrink last night for the first time. I ripped National Treasure using DVDDecrypter. The movie plays fine on my PC. I tried to run Shrink by clicking open files button, which brought up the browser. I went to the folder with the files, but they are not recongnized. I tried using it on other files also, but to no availe. I'm pretty sure Decrypter puts the file into an acceptable format.
Thanks in advance.

not sure why they aren't recognized. could you tell us specifically what the error message says? also not sure exactly what level/type of encryption is on that dvd. if you want to take the time, you might want to download dvdfab express and vobblanker (both freeware, see urls below), process the dvd through those and then see if shrink will open and process the files. also, RipIt4Me is freeware that involves several downloads and installations (just a few minutes) that has a "one click mode" that will prepare the dvd for burning by ripping, decrypting, fixing authoring problems, etc., in one step... then you just burn using shrink. best wishes.

I may be off base here. Are you trying to select the files, or the folder they are in? If I remember right (I'm at work so I can't check) to open a DVD that has already been ripped to files you choose the folder, not the files. Just a thought.

P.S. I had some trouble with $0nY disc not too long ago using decrypter and shrink. As serfgeo said, using dvdfab took care of it.

I actually downloaded DVDFab today to try. I'm at work right now so I don't remeber the exact message. I believe it said something about not being able to locate the VOB file.

@masondog
yeah, let us know what happens. dvdabyss beat me to it, but i was also going to suggest using vobblanker after dvdfabdecrypter, prior to shrink. it only takes about 5 minutes and is frequently necessary with many newer dvds, especially the big studio big movies, like "national treasure".

Did your rip your DVD in file mode in Decrypter or in iso? If file then you would choose the Open Files tab, if you did it in iso then you must go to the File Tab and choose Open Disk Image and then you will be able to open your file. If you choose to rip the Movie Only + Ifo's then you need to use the Reauthor Tab to get your Title and open it.

@arniebear
That is a good question. Now that you mention it, I might have ripped in ISO. I will check that when I get off work.

as usual, thanks for the knowledgeable input! since i never rip in iso, i'm not really familiar with that whole dimension and the associated issues that might arise. sounds like that might well be the specific problem masondog is having. still doesn't hurt for him to learn about fabdecrypter and vobblanker too!

Way to go arniebear you're reading my mind. In what file mode was Decrypter?
