Hello, last night i spent 7 hours trying to get online with the ps2. I am trying to use my laptop as a wireless access point, to my netgear wgt624v3 router, for my ps2. I get the old DNS error when connecting (error -612 ingame. I know this means that my router is not allowing access to the internet for my ps2 but i have tried so many solutions on various forums and tutorials to simply get the same error about DNS EVERY fricken time! Heres some info, anyone who can help me please to this is really really getting me worked up:
1)Hardware: all working fine. All tested and working. cross over cable replaced today as it was old and i thought this could be malfuntioning.
2)Software: no software firewalls enabled. Separate settings, manually configured correctly for both the ICS and network bridge methods on ps2.
3)Wireless: works perfectly on laptop. Full firesharing and internet access.
4)ROUTER: i have been through everything here and none of it works: individualy opening the ports required for the game i am trying to get online (socom 3), DMZ set the ip of the PS2 and also tried to set it on the ip of the router.
5)ISP: I am on ntl 4mb broadband which i hear is well known for problems with ps2 and xbox online. But, my ps2 online works perfectly with auto settings connected direct to the cable modem and also works with manual network settings when conected directly to the router through ethernet.
I hope i have provided enough info and i believe that all my IP, DNS etc are correct both on the ps2 and comp but i really am stumped. PPPPPPPPPPLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE HELP ME!!
